Gronk to retire

So what’s our cap at now?

Wow, the holes we have an offense just magnified big time. Gronk and Edelman gave me a semblance of hope for next year, but now Bill is going to have to draft a lot of new weapons for Tom.

Cook cited Gronk’s uncertain status when it came to why he signed with New Orleans over New England. Unless you think he’s lying, an earlier decision could have helped push him in another direction. But it is what it is. The decision coming this late did not help New England at all, but he’s earned that right.

And if they had thrown in more money I am not sure he would have not cared but they valued him to a certain point and not beyond. But I see your point. My perspective is that I almost prefer McDaniels to not try to recreate an offense with a lesser player but instead try to move into a different direction. But that is a different conversation.

Honestly, the only decision I can see being affected here -- but that one is a bit far out there and also not particularly likely -- is whether BB would have been harder in the OBJ bidding. Ignoring the cap hit because you can structure around it but the potential impact in terms of being a chess piece to move coverages.

Say it ain't so, Gronky!

Argue all you want on whether he's the GOAT TE due to longevity/lack thereof, but anyone who argues that his best wasn't miles better than anyone else's best is crazy.
spot on

With respect to scoring touchdowns, the 5 greatest seasons by a tight end in NFL history were by

Rob Gronkowski,
Rob Gronkowski,
Rob Gronkowski,
Rob Gronkowski,
and
Rob Gronkowski.

While being a dominant blocker as well.

Short career and not playing for Indy and Pittsburgh will def be held against him. He’s definitely in, hestitate to say first ballot because you can only have so many guys in a class.

Who cares how short the career is if you eclipsed that many overall records, were a perennial AP and won multiple rings with gigantic contributions during those playoff runs.

Doing it in less time is even more impressive.

Like Brady there won’t be another Gronk.

Who will throw them out of the club now?

Interesting...

I thought I'd miss disco, but then punk came along and I hung a razor blade from my ear. Moving on...I am now 100% IN on Zach...ZACH ATTACK!!! You heard it here first from the King Of Komedy...Joey Kerr Supahstah!

Best TE ever and on the Pats Mt. Rushmore

Thanks for the memories Gronk!

Anyone expecting another Gronk in 2019 should temper expectations. Consider it a win if we find the next graham/Watson.
Comparing anyone to him in any aspect is about as foolish as comparing 99% of QB's to Brady.

Gronk was the best TE ever & I seriously question anyone saying different.

Again the guy was part tackle. How many better blockers at the position?

Who had better hands?

Was better taking a hit & getting yac?

What about stretching the field?

TD's?

He was dominate almost his entire career.

Agreed I be very happy w another one of those 2 who were good players in thwir own right.

I don’t think he would have went harder after OBJ. I think he will see who falls in the draft but I have to believe the passing game is going to be reinvented around the WR position for the time being. Smith would still be a good fit out of Alabama because he doesn’t automatically key pass or run. I doubt they get a sniff at either of the Iowa TEs.

I don’t, I think it’s absurd Jerome Bettie got in before Terrell Davis. Gronk is def in, I think it’ll be first ballot.

Not suprised. Smart move to go out on top. He was great but no Ben Coates...
