Semi-OT: Last night, was Jamie Collins even on the field?

Classic case of a guy who gets paid and checks out, BB probably saw that from a mile away. I don't see him coming back, maybe when he is 30 for a minimum.

It’s not a grudge issue, it’s that Collins’ goals don’t really mesh with the teams.
Didn’t say it was. Things ended badly, but Bill could move past it if Collins had the right attitude.

The sad part is he would still be our best linebacker. Hightower’s legs are declining, van not is average, and Roberts cant cover anyone

You forgot how Collins let Marshawn Lynch beat him on a wheel route near the end of the first half in SB? It was so bad.

It's not about him getting paid and checking out, it's just who he is as a player. He's always been weak at the point of attack, and overrated as a cover LB. People here went nuts over him because he would make some flashy plays, and because he was good at running people down when they were moving away from him.

Things ended fine, we traded him because he wasn’t a fit.
He had a chance to have the right attitude. It’s not him.

Seemed pretty clear Jamie wasn’t thrilled by the way things ended.

New England Patriots figured out a strategy almost two decades ago and implemented it to the letter. It was "never ever overpay your own FA". So called dynasties like Seahawks, Falcons and Broncos have come and gone but we are still here year in and year out. The only teams which could remotely match our success were the Colts and the Steelers. The Colts was out of the conversation after Forehead got injured and the Steelers are in free fall. I am glad that we did not pay Jamie Collins or Chandler Jones or Nate Solder or Butler or Lewis.

I guess the strategy was never overpay your own FA and somehow make TB to sign under market value contracts.

Actually people thought he wouldn’t be happy being traded from here to the worst team in the nfl but he said he as happy to be there.

And bit on an Owen Daniels seam route TWICE in the '15 AFC title game....
I would put more blame on Chris Harper's muffed punt in the regular season which led to Gronk's injury. Yeah, Collins was great to have on a rookie contract, not so much on a $12 m per .

Yeah...that game should have been played at Gillette....

I badly wanted Brady in uniform on the field at SB 50....in San Francisco with all the former SB MVP's.

I don’t think he cares and he’s happy to be paid, but I doubt he’d want to play for Bill again.

Sometime I think the Pats

Well, you will never will them all nor should you. First of all, football is such a epic game and you need all stars aligned to win one SB. One one can predict one muffed punt could possibly set off a chain reaction like this; muffed punt>lost the lead>Gronk's injury>lost the game>lost the home field>lost the AFCCG. Second, if TB had the perfect season 2007 and won 2015, he would probably lost all the motivation and be long retired by now. So I would just focus on enjoying what we have now. All three SB losses? No biggie.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I watched some of the game last night and I was wondering the same thing. I even looked online to check if Collins was injured and perhaps not playing.

Yeah, I have similar feelings about the Parcells/Carroll era. Had we been successful then...no Brady/Belichick.

Nonetheless, I like to obsess over how close we have been in those "down years".

Yeah he didn’t seem to care much about becoming a better player and winning.
