So, correct me if I'm wrong, but are we looking at space where people used pay good money to sit down and watch football, being replaced with space that people who pay more money to do things other than watch football?

yes and no

seats are being replace by it, yes.

but it is a large open air bar area and standing room area. Will see a lot of game watching happening from there. as well, the new area will hold more people than the seats its replacing

When you quote Jim Irsay should take note. Also, the correct quote is, "don't hang championship banners when you can make room for everyday moments."

I agree. Time to start expanding the list:

Kickoff return touchdown, 2011

flea flicker touchdown - 2016

sellout crowd: 2017

Thursday Opener: 2017

AFC Championship halftime-lead: 2006

They would be wise to make space for the next 3 while they are at it, and then a hook to hang Brady's cleats beside them.

Only if drinking counts as another activity. I usually lump football and drinking into 1 activity. It's an area where any fan can hang out and watch the game with friends that are sitting in a different area. The way I understand it is no charge and anyone can hang there.

Improvements coming to upper concourse of Gillette Stadium - The Boston Globe

First world problem, for sure.

Man what a pain in the ass it is to have to redesign your stadium in order to make enough room to display your Superbowl banners ;)

The Chiefs have solved this problem. I was in KC for a charity event my son was sponsoring at Arrowhead and observed how the Chiefs display their banner. IMG_20170521_091209676.jpg Think they're trying to keep up with the Colts?!!? Note their banner is Outside. One way to solve the lack of space problem!

All we know for sure is they are moving the Gillette sign to accommodate whatever is in store. I was actually there today and didn't even peek.

But its above the Jumbo on the optum club endzone. Same side the 4 are on now. Looks like they making enough space between the 4 for all 5. Presumably enough room for more to come.

So they moved the banners already?

I don't think division titles banners is a bad thing. Or conference championship titles. Especially if you haven't won any Super Bowls. But conference game participant and all that crap, that's just embarrassing.
