Introducing kicker Josh Gable.... might this be Gostowski's competition?

Allen and Gost have been both assets to the team. Gost missed an extra point in the SB but overall he had a good game if you include his kickoffs etc...

I'm just playing around in a speculative dream world with this guy. Nothing serious. Unless BB thinks it's serious.
Got it.

If this kid can actually hit 85 frigging yard field goals it's not very hard to imagine at all actually.

There's a slight difference between kicking an 85-yard FG on a tape like this and doing it in an actual game.

Nope. They'd invoke the double-super-secret provision for Half Time Rule Changes when the Patriots are involved.
Silly me. You're 100% correct. WTF was I thinking....

one of his videos does show him punting, and one of the punts supposedly had a distance of 81 yards in the air with a 4.73 second hang time! Here:

belichick likes left-footed punters.

then again, gable can kick left-footed (go to 1:06).

80 yard FG range... That's sick. Obviously we'd never want to actually kick one in a game...

BUT what if you were done 2 with only 3 seconds to go and you're only at midfield. A FG by this guy might be a better chance to win than a hail mary pass.

Did anyone watch the video?????

Look at his jersey and shorts, blowing in the WIND, must have been 55 mph. He's a joke and won't get signed anywhere.

A kicked ball goes MUCH further in the wind at your back than a thrown ball. A tumbling ball catches the wind pushing it forward. A spiral thrown ball just sails through it, with little effect.

I'm sure Joe Judge and BB saw the same clips that Reiss published.
I doubt they'd waste their time if they didn't think he might cut it.
My concern is whether he can make those kicks through a wall of 300 pound trees. They'll need about 30 minutes on the Practice field to get that answer.

With a leg like that, kick it from 12 yards behind the line and not just 7yds.

Yeah, the wind is taking his ball an extra 30 yards. Hurricane strength but the ball goes straight.

I hope they get rid of gostkowski, overpaid and chokes on occasion.

one of his videos has him doing kickoffs from the 35 and routinely kicking them not just out of the end zone but through the uprights

Imagine this ending to SB51:

"And out comes Gable to attempt a 75yd free kick field goal with 3 seconds left."

Regards,
Chris

Ok... If they pick him up, they will have 1 year tops to use him as the league will outlaw his trick kicks the following year because of the Pats having an edge. It happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

Meh. Camp leg, at best. I think Gost's job is pretty safe ;)

I don't know. Gost is the second oldest player on the team. What if he hits his "Cliff"? What if he gets "injured"? What if he loses leg power? I think we all need to stop BS'ing ourselves. These "old" guys need to be shipped off to the glue farms and replaced with younger promising prospects. Sign him either way because we have plenty of cap space. :D
