Leonardo DaVinci painted people in his paintings doing the throat slash gesture (you can see one in The Last Supper). It's been around for a long time and kids are going to come across it eventually.

Besides, the Pats made him eat that gesture since they won the game. I'm more upset that he didn't get called for excessive celebration after he used the ball as a prop.

I think if we're being honest, the gesture is probably illegal because the NFL wants to distance itself from "gang" like behavior. I suspect as an employer, they know they have more than a few of them in their league and they don't want those highlights to exist in case an Aaron Hernandez type pops up. (And apparently, they're right, since that did sort of happen. And we did get some nice "make it rain" highlights for said reason also.)

This may be a cynical viewpoint and I acknowledge that. But it's not like you wanted Ray Lewis doing that on the field back when that rule was made. No need to remind the paying public.

Josh Gordon was kept relatively quiet up until his 80 yard grab.

On that play, I have no idea why they had a hobbled Talib one on one with NO safety help over him.

Had that one completion not happened, you'd be trashing Josh Gordon for being shut down.

I hate the play call more than I blame Talib. He made him his '*****' for one play. Yay for Josh Gordon. He's the hottest WR in the NFL right now and single covering him with ANYONE is stupid.

I don't see the 'massive' drop off people are flailing on about. He's not the elite corner he looked like before the hip problem, but he's still one of the most on form in the league. He's just no as head and shoulders above the rest as he was prior to the injury.

Just re-watched the game and that play in particular - Looks like Gregory broke in towards the line for no good reason and even continued forward after it was clear the pass went to Gordon. I think if Gregory played it better he could have provided more than adequate help. In fact it seems like Gregory was awful more than a few times during the game.

When I was a kid, games started at 9:15, and I stayed up watching the Patriots-Dolphins Monday night game past midnight, only to hear Howie Cosell announce that John Lennon was murdered that night.

Games now start at 1:30am... all on "school"/worknights. It's good and bad.
