Right. IMO they'd need to not want Herbert in LA and also want to get out from under his 262.5m dollar contract.
But considering the substantial commitment they made to Herbert just last year, it makes me skeptical they would want out all of a sudden.
If they were hedging their bets it would...
I believe the only logic behind this trade would be 1) they don't love Herbert 2) they want to get out from under his contract and replace him with a younger cheaper QB who still has upside to be just as good if not better.
Your point still stands that they could stand pat at #5 and land...
This is the shocker draft.
New York Giants offered a tantalizing package including a 2nd round pick this year and next year to move up to #3 and I accepted.
To my surprise their target was Nabers and then... Drake Maye lasts all the way to #6! I quickly scoop him up.
Then another small...
I tried NFLMockDraftDatabase and made out like a bandit. Methinks the trade algorithm is a bit too generous.
Traded down and still landed Jayden Daniels at #5 after Caleb Williams, and Drake Maye went 1 & 2.
Traded back into the first round and landed Fashanu at #19 to secure our left tackle...
That's a barn burner of a game! Plenty of talent and big plays on show there. Aiyuk and Herbert from that game have certainly turned out to be stars in the pros. Will Jayden Daniels join them in that list of top NFL players?
Honestly he should have meddled more and kept TB12 in the building. All the Patriots needed to do was offer him an extension into his age 45 season but BB convinced Kraft that Brady was 'washed'.
TB12 goes on and wins the Superbowl in his first year away from BB. BB meanwhile failed to win...
Sounds incredibly unlikely because of the financial aspects of the trade. This is a reality hurdle that many rumor mongers fail to account for - basic math. Nice dream but the salary cap pretty much prohibits it.
Did you also know that my cousin's hairdresser's aunt's best friend who overheard Robert Kraft talking to Wolf assured me that the Patriots would trade #3 to the Vikings for Jefferson and two 1st round picks. Now who would you rather believe?
Please read the cons on the scouting report for this QB and tell me if they should be taken in the 1st round:
Weaknesses:
Gunslinger who can be reckless with the football
Has some mechanical issues to fix
Throws too many passes back across the field
Can sail deep balls too far
Will need to...
True. Once you have a top 10 QB, you can pretty much expect to compete every year in the playoffs. And with modern medicine those QBs stay in the elite stratosphere longer.
Just look at TB12. I mean he was a freak of nature in terms of longevity but an elite QB in the NFL now can be...
The Washington Generals are NOT a well run football organization. Regardless of this they hold the #2 pick.
I seriously doubt Daniels is willing to sit out a year and turn down the chance to play in the NFL and the millions of guaranteed dollars that go with that regardless of his personal...
I bet we could see as many as 5 QB's taken in the first round. Maybe even in the top 16. This is the 'golden generation' and teams are going to take their shots. There are even a couple of QBs who could be taken in the 2nd round who might end up working out according to same scouts...
This is why Maye is a more attractive prospect if he makes it to #3. He's a big tough dude who can take a beating and yet keep on playing game after game. He's got a Bledsoe-type arm but pairs that with the size, mobility and athleticism of a Josh Allen. Seems to be built for New England weather.
It's not that he didn't play well in the college playoffs. It's the injury history that is scaring teams off. Nobody wants to pay a high draft pick to buy damaged goods early.
