I’d say the entire Apollo 11 mission is pretty apt “as is”. Your goal is to get to the moon. You never do. But you live and are then destined to die never to get there. Year after year of ‘non moon landing’ living.

IMO, AR being a loser when his team needed him most was a bigger ‘reason’ than choosing Love, who’s shown promise. AR, like Peyton, was only able to win the SB when his D lead the team to the title.
