At least two offshore sportsbooks (the only 2 I looked at) actually have the line at 12.5 and at -105, it actually presents a decent scalp opportunity except for the fact that your funds are tied up until Feb '09. Landing right on 13 is quite possible though.

Hi Gang
I'm too new to start a thread and I have a question. My friend recieved a pair of tickets to a TC practice this Sunday. I thought it was odd that she recieved tickets for something like that. Anyway, she says it has something to do with a hospitality function before the practice and hospitality parking too.
Can anyone tell me what that is? The reason she got the tix is I purchased a NFL properties Patriots football. Looks cool, and I'd love to get a chance for a signature or two on it. Had plans last week to go to TC but it was rained out.
Anyway to answer the thread I just jumped. I don't seeing the Pats dropping more that 2 games this season if any! & finish the deal at the SB.

14-2 Book it.

On a related note, that site also lists odds on winning the divisions . . . the Colts are 2:1 favorites to win the AFC South, the Chargers 4:1 favorites in the West . . . and the Pats are 10:1 favorites to win the AFC East.

No. The Colts are 1-2, the Chargers 1-4 and the Pats 1-10. Basically, a 2-1 bet means you bet a dollar to win 2. So, for the Colts at 1-2, they're saying you have to bet 2 to win 1.

Yes. For the Pats, you lay down a 10 spot, that will give you only a nice crisp Washington in profit.

Once burned, twice shy. The only W number that means anything to me is the number that gets us the Division, a Bye and Home Field. Way too early to tell, but it's probably 13 or 14. If it's 13, great. If it's 15, fine.

Another interesting Vegas prop on the Pats:

The Patriots scored 589 points last year, by far the most in the league. Their total for 2008 is listed at 468, minus-130 (risk $1.30 to win $1) on the over and even money on the under.

They will not win 13 games if their defense does not improve. Like in '05, they will struggle to get to 10 wins if their defense plays like they did in the last two preseason games.

16-0. Book it.

We're 23-2 in our last 25 games alone.

15-1. Only this time the lone loss comes before the playoffs and the Pats finish the deal this time in Tampa.

I'll take the under at 12-4.

I think 12-4 is realistic too - I can see 2 of those losses out west - Seattle and San Diego are the most likely teams to give NE fits and I think they get beat once in the east division and possibly at Indy or in a big upset somewhere else.

I take the under. I'm looking for a strong 12-4 season.

Smart money is on the under, at 13-3. 16-0 only happens about once every thirty years, it's not realistic to expect that to be repeated. The one over I'd take is the Chargers at 11; they may be the only team with a winning record in that division. I agree with the early post about only homers making these btes, but I'm wondering in the case of the Patriots if they forgot to consider how many haters may bet against the Pats this year, convinced they will go 6-10?

you have to take the under on that. 14-2 and 15-1 are almost impossible when you gotta play at indy, san diego and seattle. plus you gotta figure pitt is a decent team and the jets and bills are improved. as much as i hate to say it you have to figure the loss of samuel and age of rodney, vrabel, lynch and bruschi hurts the pats D a little more.

i also think belichick realized after last year that your record in the regular season doesnt matter as long as you are good enough to get into the playoffs so he will probably rest some guys at the end of the year to keep them more fresh if they have home field wrapped up.

I'll take the under at 12-4.

Under I think. 12-4 is where I figure they'll be. The teams they play aren't necessarily the cream of the league, but the travel & bye week really suck.

I'm thinkg 14-2 right now.
