The Patriots trade No. 7 and No. 164 (fifth round) for the No. 10 overall selection and the No. 78 overall selection.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Hope we trade out of the #10 spot too.

I don't care for the deal. The Saints were willing to give up their 1st, 2nd and 1st next year to get to 5. Yet, the Pats can only swap picks, gaining a 3rd, but giving up a 5th?

If that's the case, then KC is the biggest bunch of idiots in the history of the universe.

OTOH, look at it this way--all Baltimore got for dropping from 8 to 26 was two thirds and a fourth, so dropping from 7 to 10 and moving from the fifth to the third doesn't seem too bad in my book.

i'm not as familiar as you with the Saints' deal, but if you look at the Draft value charts, the difference between 7 and 10 is 200 points and the difference between 68 and 164 is 175 points, so it's pretty close, by that measure. They probably also saved several million by being able to draft Mayo at 10 rather than 7.

You mean the antiquated draft value chart? I don't put much value in it.

Also, when you look at what the Chiefs just paid to move up 2 spots (3rd and 5th), the Pats got Fleeced.

Look at the deals from last year. Compare what Adrian Peterson got to what Amobi Okoye got.

Pats just saved themselves millions.
