Few training camp/FF notes/predictions:
-Both KC Concepcion & Denzel Boston will be productive players in Cleveland (feels so wrong to even utter those words lol).
-Redskins WR Antonio Williams seems to have the “IT” factor when it comes to getting off the LOS, setting up the corner & separating. His quickness is off the charts; on the field.
-Seattle RB Jadarian Price is gonna EAT, but hopefully not Week 1.
-GB WR Matthew Golden is heavily undervalued. I get it; that offensive system doesn’t do him any favors, but the kid is uber talented. Feed him..
-As physically gifted as they are, Pittsburgh’s WR unit just doesn’t move me. DK & Pittman are physical specimens, but I like Bernard’s skill set better; especially in today’s climate. Problem is, he’s behind Roman Wilson on the depth chart..
-I actually think the jets could have a functional offense for a change. The OL is solid, Hall is great when healthy (..again, when healthy…) Wilson is Wilson, AD is untapped/inconsistent but solid, Cooper is a rookie, but seems to be progressing well in camp. Sadiq & Taylor could be a fine tandem. Geno is the X-factor…Will they get ‘22-‘23 Geno, or the Geno we all know & love? The defense was atrocious lady year, but they’ve overhauled the unit drastically. Could help them..
-Miami easily has the worst offense in the league (talent-wise at least). It’s not even close. Now, whether that translates on the field statistically remains to be seen..
-Three offenses that I like that are complete wild cards, are Arizona, NYG & NO. Each of these teams have very intriguing pieces littered throughout their respective rosters. Either their QB is suspect/terrible/young (or a combination of them), their stars are injury prone or the OL is putrid.
-It’ll be a miracle if the 49ers even manage to field a team Week 1 vs the Rams. They seriously need to relocate their practice/training facility.
-Buffalo is overrated
-If Carolina RB Jonathan Brooks can stay healthy, Hubbard could be in trouble.
-Is Parker Washington emerging as WR1 in Jacksonville? He’s been playing his ass off since late last season. He was excellent in the postseason & has been killing in camp so far. Obviously, there’s still time for BTJ to revert back to his rookie status, but he needs to get his head out of his ass. No excuses when Cohen is your play caller. Never expected things to play out like this…
-I like Jayden Daniels & want him to succeed, but I don’t think he has the frame for longevity in this league. His OL certainly isn’t doing him any favors. It seems Washington GM Adam Peters specifically targeted smaller/quicker skill position players in order to get the ball out of JD5’s hands quicker to help negate some of the OL issues. McLaurin, Diggs, Williams, Lane & TE Okonkwo seem to fit the bill.
-I cannot wait until we start joint practices with Philadelphia. Our team seems hungry for blood, offseason disrespect, AJ Brown soap opera, Philly looking to prove they can succeed post AJ, that defensive matchup vs our offense, our new pass rush against that OL… Pure cinema!
-TB edge Rueben Bain seems to be a man amongst boys in camp. He looks like he was 35 years old when he came out of the womb. His face looks like an amalgamation of Fletcher Cox & Vince Wilfork lol.
-Is WR Emeka Egbuka a #1 in this league??? He hit the proverbial rookie wall last year. He was playing very well until after our matchup. I’m sure it was the hip/hamstring injuries. He’s gonna receive a ton of targets.
-Panthers defense is a bit intriguing. TBD..
-As mentioned vaguely earlier in the post, the Saints have a few potential pieces to build around. I think QB Shough is solid, or at least seems to be. Rookie receiver Tyson is uber talented, but hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky to manage. Ettiene was a solid, if not spectacular addition & the OL is above average. Vele is their speedster & TE Juwan Johnson is talented. They’re certainly top heavy & fairly young, but I like the group. Especially if Shough continues to develop.
-GB Jordan Love is an enigma. His advanced metrics all point to him being an elite QB, but it just doesn’t seem to translate to winning meaningful games.
-How long before Justin Jefferson demands a trade out Minnesota due to both Murray & McCarthy’s inadequacy? From the clips I’ve seen from their camp this summer, it may not be long…but hopefully we finally get to see Gonzo vs JJ. Elite vs elite matchup.
-Donald obviously won’t be prime Donald (not that he has to be), but just how much over the top can he put this Rams team defensively if he returns? He’s always been in impeccable shape/condition, so it may not take long to re-acclimate to football condition. Garrett + Donald along with the additions of CBs McDuffie & Watson…& safety Curl. Could/should pay dividends…
-Rookie RB Jeremiyah Love is already better than Ashton Jeanty & Hendo. Again, as I mentioned above, that Arizona offense has specimens at the skill positions; who should dominate in theory. Obviously, the game isn’t played in theory, but Wilson, MHJ, Love & McBride is about as well as you can expect a young drafted core to be. Two big talented physical receivers, an All-Pro TE & a specimen at RB…all on rookie deals? But…we know the Arizona Cardinal Sins will ruin it…
