...went to Cancun during a bye week before a playoff game, especially if his team had stunk for the last month or so.

It's this kind of stuff that makes me think that Romo will never be a great QB.

Didn't Brady spend the week in NY with his girlfriend? I think the two situations are pretty similar. I don't know how far Cancun is from where Romo lives, but it's not like he flew halfway across the world.

Romo should be more careful, because of course he hasn't won anything yet, but I really don't get what all the fuss is about.

We know that no one in the league works or studies harder than Brady, or is more deserving of a rest. But think back to 2001, when we had a hotshot new QB who hadn't won anything. Would it be a different story?

Romo strikes me as a guy who never has his mind on the game, even when he's playing.

Yeah I'm sure it would. I also think the problem is that Jessica Simpson has been way too much in the public eye. If he had gone to Cancun with some non-celeb gf, no one would care. No one cares that Jason Witten and his wife were there too.

I don't think that's fair. I don't know if it's about losing focus, he just has bad stretches sometimes.

I think Cowboys fans would have a right to be concerned if there were pictures of Romo partying with Jessica Simpson in Cancun or something. Just hanging out with her and his teammates, that's no big deal.

Although if Romo has a bad game, he is going to get killed by the media and some fans who'll blame it on this trip. Maybe he should've been a little smarter about it and just stayed in Dallas.

Even though intellectually I think it shouldn't matter, in my gut I agree w/you. Romo has never won a damn thing, and the last thing I'd want to see is my qb--when last seen in the playoffs fumbling away a snap like his hands were his feet--yukking it up in Mexico. Hey, if he wins, who cares, he's having some fun. If he has a bad game Sunday, you know we'll hear about it then.

These guys have plenty of time for R&R....stay focused for a couple of weeks.

it would be no different than Tom spending time in LA for a few days to see his kid. Serious, so long as Tony was not playing football on the beach, and he was only relaxing, it does not matter. However, the impression it gives is that his mind is on *ussy! That being said, I would think that a little talk with the front office of the Cowboys telling Tony he is under intense scrutiny would have been preferred. He could wait a few weeks to take a vaca with Simpson. That way, they would not be fueling a possible PR firestorm...

IT is was it is....

I think it's more disturbing that her father still follows her everywhere and talks about her boobs..but maybe that's just me.

If Romo works half as hard as Brady he deserves to use his bye week to recoup however he wants. Most of these guys have been working nearly non stop with maybe one day off a week since training camp.

That's pretty tough physically and mentally. I'm not about to judge.

In the regular season, I'd agree with you. But Dallas is playing like crap, and Romo's previous season didn't exactly end on a high note. I want to see a guy in the film room on his off days, determined to make amends. Know what I mean?

This is a little ridiculous, are we really going to buy into this tabloid crap? I'm fairly certain that the vast majority of QBs take a short vacation during the bye week and rest up; that's one of the advantages of gaining the bye, and is probably more effective than practicing for two weeks straight, or studying film etc. The only reason this is even a story is Jessica Simpson and the crapparazzi being all over it. Let's not fall for yet another media-invented story please.

I couldn't care less who he went with. I don't even care that he took time off. Taking a "vacation" just doesn't sit right with me, given Romo's overall cavalier attitude.

What film should he be watching?
He did not know his opponent till Sunday afternoon.

well my point was, you would have no idea what he did if it weren't for Jessica Simpson. You certainly wouldn't "see him in the film room," last time I checked they don't televise that.

Yeah, I meant "see" literally.

Brady was probably watching film on three teams until the Jags came out on top. Now he can cut it down to film of just the Jags.

okay so metaphorically, you would not be aware of whether he was studying film or picking his nose. Quick question; can you tell me what evidence there is that past QBs have been "studying film" and not on vacation during the bye in playoffs past? I realize that the media makes this seem abnormal, but where is our perspective on what is standard practice for QBs during the first round bye?

What about the vacation he'll need from the weekend with Jess? I'd need a friggin week off (in a hospital) after that!

except as was pointed out before, he was in NYC with Giselle.

You are worried over nothing. This si a non issue and why you are bringing it up is beyond me. If Brady was doing it I'd have no problem. He did it all throughout the regular season. The bye week is a week of to do whatever they want. If he wants to lay on a beach in Mexico let him. You act like he was skydiving and putting his life in danger. He was sitting on a beach with his girlfiend. You're making this a big deal because it's Jessica Simpson.
