Celtics 2026-2027 Discussion

Veesaar, Reed or Cenac would be ok with me.
Carr is best player, if he’s still there, but not sure Brad takes him.

Meleek Thomas would make sense as well if DWhite could be moved.

Cenak was the best available player on my list, so I have no problem whatsoever with the pick. UConn Center Tarris Reed would've been tempting, however, if Denver hadn't taken him right in front of us at 26...

Can we star this post or like pin it somewhere? I’ve never seen you be OK with a draft pick by any Boston team

Cenac it is. Young (20), athletic, long wingspan - 7' 5".

27. Chris Cenac Jr., 6-10, Houston freshman big

Grade: A

As good as Neemias Queta was all year, the Celtics clearly need to upgrade at center after blowing a 3-1 lead to the Sixers in the first round. Maybe Cenac will be the big to do just that. Cenac checks every box on paper as a superb athlete who moves like a wing, has the length to alter shots, and shoots from the perimeter. Houston handed him a starting role with national title aspirations and trusted him with heavy minutes. But the Cougars fell short again, in part because Cenac struggled to stay out of foul trouble, couldn't score efficiently, and was overeager to play on the perimeter despite having the body of a bruiser. He arrived in college with lottery expectations, and he still could become that player in the future. But the Celtics are taking a project.

I was reading this and getting excited until the end. I hate "projects" in the NBA. In many cases, it takes several years for a project to work and the Celtics need help in the middle now.

These two really surprised me:

20. San Antonio Spurs (via Hawks)

Jayden Quaintance, 6-9, Kentucky sophomore big

Grade: B-

26. San Antonio Spurs (via Nuggets)

Tarris Reed, 6-10, UConn senior center

Grade: B-

Not only because I felt they might be there when the Celtics picked at 27, especially Quaintance with his knee issue, but also because... how many bigs does San Antonio think they can play at once? I wonder if this means Kornet's $10 Million is gone?

They said that about Gonzales last year. (see first review).

When you;re picking at the end of the first round, there will always be the naysayers.

They need at least one of them on the court at the same time with Wemby. He was getting bullied and worn down being on the court with 4 guard-like players. They should have taken a bigger wing or should trade for one that's currently in the NBA. Fox is probably the one on the way out.

He's a great rebounder, this kid, as light as he was. We are going to love those offensive rebounds.

Fox was crap in the playoffs. Dump the bum

Bigs take time to develop. Some faster than others. Coming from Houston, he knows how to guard and rebound. He did not contest that many shots because Kelvin Sampson told him to concentrate on rebounds. He excelled at that. Depending on what Coach Mazz asks of him I can see him getting more minutes than one might think. We'll see who else the C's bring in to play the Big role. Mazz seems to like Garza but he just can't move all that well.
