I think they are miles apart on a contract. The Patriots are likely around 12 per, and Boutte probably want at least 20.
Boutte isn't worth 20M yet. Right now, he's a #2/#3 type WR, but has the potential to be a solid #2. He needs to be putting in the work with the Maye so that Maye looks for him more often.

I think it's a mistake for the Pats to want Brown at his ridiculous contract when Boutte just turned 24 and is still getting better and his best football is ahead of him. However, if Boutte doesn't want to be on the Team, then they should do everything to accommodate him and get as much as possible.

so says a patriot fan.

Do PIT fans want him back? Did PIT fans like being in the playoffs last year?
ROFL. I can have a garage can at QB and not worry about my team being embarrassed on national TV with the corpse of a QB. Who gives a **** what Pit fans want. If they just want a playoff game...then they are losers.

Probably the same type of losers who cheered on each victory in 2023 knowing the team was ass and desperately needed a QB. Just one more win and they don't get Maye. There are as I said then, lessons in that.

Given what top players are getting now Brown's contract doesn't look as bad, and he's much more proven than Boutte is. I think the problem is that they aren't going to give Boutte what he wants, and essentially replaced him with Doubs.

I don't think they've replaced Boutte with Doubs. I think that Diggs is who Doubs replaced.

Doubs isn't near the deep threat that Boutte is and Doubs is also 2 years older than Boutte.

Boutte is a dead man walking. On a contract year you show up to workouts early, first man in last man out and do everything possible to impress the team that you want the big money from. He is nowhere to be found. He knows something and is not happy about it.

There is only one team with winners as fans and that it is the patriots.

We all understand your position.

You would rather PIT not sign Rodgers and cut some of their verts so that they can get better draft picks.

And, yes, the vast, vast majority of fans in the NFL would kill for PIT's record this century instead of that of their team.

I think that's because the Patriots made their offer and it was a world apart from what Boutte wants. He's knows he's not getting what he wants here and he's making it clear he's pissed. I agree that it's the wrong approach completely, but he probably knows he's on the trading block and doesn't care.

Boutte was a good deep threat last year, but I think Williams is going to get more of that role, as well as Brown as a downfield possession receiver, which Boutte did pretty well last year. I think Chism and Hollins will split the slot role depending upon the calls. One thing is certain, they are going to have a much bigger offense this season. If they put Hollins, Doubs, and Brown at WR, with Raridon and Gilliam they are going to be able to bully defenses with their skill players.

I don't think there's an offer, or at least not a realistic one. They're getting Brown and want to develop Kyle Williams, making Boutte redundant. They're trying to move him, but probably not getting many offers, so Boutte is just lingering out there.

I liked Boutte and thought he could be more impactful in the middle if Drake had more time. Regardless, if they acquire Brown, he and Doubs will get the majority of the work. There won't be any role for Boutte. I will cheer for him wherever he goes.

Good. Get the weaker opponents out of the way first when they might actually have a chance to beat the Queefs; then let Kermit face the tougher teams later in the season when they might beat him anyway.

They're playing with fire being so anxious to part ways with players who had actual, productive chemistry with the QB, a subject not often learned here during the previous 5+ years...

I can tell you as a Patsfan, I'd rather be facing Will Howard or Mason Rudolph than Rodgers. The writing was on the wall about this given the backup QBs they had

As far as the pay, top tier QBs today get $50-$60 mil a season

Mid-tier QBs get $30-$40 million

Rodgers is a step below them in remaining skill and his bottom third rankings and gets $23 million so I don't think thats outrageous.

There must be some hefty incentives in there because his actual contract/cap hit comes in at $15 million, so he may never see the extra $8 million. That's not bad and it has him as the #19th highest paid QB for 2026. Drake Maye is 24th at $9 million but that's a rookie contract.
