DRAFT Draft Rumours 2026

Why do you think I included him in my draft contest entries? It mitigates some of the disappointment.
We have to put some trust in the current regime making picks. They have 1 at bat together and hit a solid triple.
If we take Howell I will save any potential disappointment until football starts.

I didn't think about that. The last time the Pats drafted a defensive player in the first round, other than Gonzo, was Malcolm Brown in 2015. It's time.

For what it's worth...

Chad Graff writes today that while there's always the possibility that someone they don't expect will be there, the Patriots are largely focused on edge rusher at #31. He specifically mentions significant interest in Malachi Lawrence, TJ Parker, and Cashius Howell.

He also says that the team is in search of a run-stopping DT to replace Khyiris Tonga, which means that Kayden McDonald will receive some consideration if he's there.

He lists TE, OT, and DT as the positions the team is likely to focus on come Day Two.

LB is a likely focus for one of their 4th round picks, and they'd like to add a RB "around the 5th round"

QB and Safety are listed as positions they'd like to address near the end of the draft.

Beck or Allar?
As far as Allar is concerned. I'm a PSU you fan so know him well.
He definitely needs work, but has elite physical traits the NFL scouts fall in love with.
6'5, 230 lbs, rocket arm and better mobility than many realize.
That is the kind of physical traits the scouts salivate over, and the kind coaches think they can coach up.
I expect Allar to go in the 4th, but I would not be shocked one bit if someone with an aging established starter (like the Rams) took a swing in the 2nd.

Yeah.
2020 - Dugger was their first pick. But a 2nd rounder
2017 - Derek River was their first pick. A 3rd rounder
2016 - Cyrus Jones was tgeir first pick. A 2nd rounder.

And 2 of the 3 were terrible.
You get what you pay for usually.

Per Bedard,
Expect an Edge and TE tonight .

Pats are not concerned about TE blocking capabilities.

I don't trust or care for Bedard, but I have been saying the same thing.
We have our pass blocking TE, we need a receiving TE who can stress the defense.
I would prefer we wait till the 4th or later, as there are many good pass catching TEs that will be available in those rds.
Can we please, for the first time in a long time draft a difference making LB!
