Reiss: Vrabel will not be present day 3 of draft

Yep. Cowden, TW, Stretch, Wolf...they'll be fine and able to handle the later rounds. The board is already set and i'm sure Vrabes has already chimed in on which players he likes.
It was said over in the draft that day 3 picks are very likely on the scouting dept's. Vrabel likely doesn't study a 6th rounder in depth. This is 100% on Cowden and the rest that you mention.

Feels like there may be more to this story that will be coming to light. Maybe more pictures or confirmation on who/why someone took them.
Maybe. But I’m not sure how not being present for day 3 on the draft would be a correlation there. I guess if he’s trying to get ahead of a worse firestorm?

That is my guess. That there is more from the Russini thing or maybe there is evidence of another woman in addition. Seems like it is a PR move for something that may come to light and Vrabel can play the "I am working to be a better person" card.

As long as Cowden is there….

Get rid of this guy !! Bring back Bill !!! Way less distractions

Bill's got a gig (and a dubious relationship too) but my understanding is that Jerrod Mayo is available...

As far as we know he's not an adulterer so upon considering many of the posts to this thread, the obvious conclusion is that we should bring him back.

Mayo has not sinned, Mayo is the perfect guy to cast the first stone!

I just think taking day 3 off of the draft is an odd gesture to do it. That’s what doesn’t add up

I am confused by this. I have no problem with anyone putting his family over his job, but this scandal is weeks old. Why does he need his therapy on one of the most important days of the offseason? Couldn't he have done this on a Saturday before or after the draft.

In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a huge deal. Draft boards are made. It isn't the first or second round where a guy the Pats didn't have on their board because they thought he would be gone by the time the Pats pick falls to them and they have to make a decision in the moment whether he would be a fit for the Pats. There isn't going to be a player available when the Pats pick in round 4 or 5 that Vrabel hasn't given his input. So the Patriots will know Vrabel's opinion on every player the Pats are going to select or pass on this Saturday. Wolf and Cowden are more of decision makers when it comes to trades anyway.

That said, it is a PR problem for the Pats and it does negatively affect the Patriots. Not having Vrabel does take away an important opinion in real time during the draft. This is becoming more of an issue for the Patriots than I expected, but I think it is more of a pothole than a crater.
I tend to agree, but I expect more developments out of this before the story goes away. It’s clear that something happened between those two. The question is whether there is a worse problem to deal with. The Pats will be okay imo, but I think there’s more that will get reported over the next month or so.

That's a good point, I forgot about that. I think someone with the team said as much at some point, maybe it was Vrabel himself. It's probably somewhat likely that he's involved still in the 4th round, but once you start getting into the 5th and beyond he's probably not that invested.

I'd guess he most likely will give them a refreshed list of "priority targets" for players still available on the board at the end of day 2 to give some guidance for the 4th/5th without him needing to be there directly.

Who's the PI? I'm just sayin....

Guess not. I really don’t get the point of this.

I’m also sure some posters will still say this is all only because he’s been through a lot of trauma with the accusations. Keep doing your mental gymnastics

This has nothing to do with his wife. He could just do it the day after. This is all about the PR of him somehow putting his family first because he is giving up draft day 3. All smoke and mirrors.
Feels like there is something because this story could have been washed away by the news cycle that will come from the draft. The only other thing I can think of is this being some way of trying to save his marriage. A "Look honey this means so much to me I will skip 1/3 of the draft" type of Hail Mary.

All of that makes sense. He already ticked the "I spoke to the team" and the "I spoke to the media" boxes, and now he's ticking the "I went to counselling with the family" box. The fact that it is happening on Day 3 instead of later gives the press a new narrative to go with instead of "why haven't you said more?!?". Now he can say this isn't just a personal thing it's also a family thing, and I'm addressing it so stop asking. And the timing means he's put that spin on things just as the draft ends and we enter the slowest part of the off-season. Basically he's tying a bow around the whole thing. If he's doing all this for PR, at least it shows he hired the right crisis management team.

People are posting the "see, it is impacting his job" line without considering it's their addiction to gossip and their need to judge others to feel better about themselves that is why it's impacting his job.

I've just accepted that this team has always been full of drama magnets and embraced it.

Only way I can see the NFL taking action against Vrabel is if he hurt her. Then he's in big trouble. Very doubtful he did anything like that.

I can see it now....He'll be on his phone while the therapist and Mrs Vrabes waits till hes done texting w/ Wolf lol
The healing will occur between phone calls.
