Russini & Vrabel Nothing to see here?

I know that. My point is that I commonly drive an hour or two or three to sightsee on business trips.

Yes I travel 1 to 3 hours by car when on business trips to sightsee. Any resort in the hills is considered romantic to boost sales. So yes, I go to resorts sometimes - you might consider a resort romantic - I don't. The romantic part is simply marketing.

I am sure they planned it. Planning to meet each other for a relaxing day is not a big deal to me, if appears to be a big deal to you.
Do you ever meet up with a female co worker hold their hands and watch a sunset together as well? Please.

I feel very bad for her if it truly was an innocent encounter. Her reputation is forever tarnished by the insinuations around this.

That being said, as a person with common sense, I can't help but see the pictures and jump to the same conclusions most others are. I see the pictures, you ask me what I think, and I'd tell you I think they're hooking up. It is what it is, that's just what it looks like.

If there's no hard evidence I guess you couldn't "fire" here over it, but honestly if her reputation is harmed in the readers' eyes then she can't capably do her job. If every report she posts is going to be flooded with comments about this, then it's no longer in SI's best interests to employ her. So even if you can't fire/part ways with her for cause in this, she's probably not hirable or worth them extending her deal any longer anyway. It would be bad business at this point to keep her.

She should. But who knows.

I agree, on both counts.

But if Adam Schefter had an affair with the owner of the Colts, I would assume that ESPN would ask him to resign.

We don't know if this is an affair, or if it's just two old friends catching up, so not a perfect analogy. It does create questions though.

Funny thing is the tradition at the combine is for both the media and the coaches to have dinner at a famous steak house in Indy then drink for a few hours together after, and no one makes anything of it. It's definitely something an old-school journalism professor would not be happy about.

Not sure about that one. She may actually be fighting for her career BY LEAVING. If she stayed she would have been stuck silenced during the draft. By leaving, she can find work elsewhere during a very busy period of time. Many are assuming she is radioactive and nobody will offer her any work but I think she will be fine.
IMO she can go to every major news outlet, podcast, and social media platform and tell her side of the story. She has chosen not to for the reasons she stated in her statement.

Who is “we”? Sounds like her colleagues always had a low opinion of her. And sounds like there are lots of skeletons in that closet. Yeah she’s done.

Skeletons…

And more skeletons. Mets David Wright in 2009.

Women already have it tough in this profession not being taken seriously and because of their intentions. I'd say the majority of them are doing it because they are fans like us, but the difference is they are also trying to land a player or coach and trying to be famous.

Erin Andrews had many rumors about her in her early days.

Michelle Beadle had a hard time shaking off the rumor she told Aaron Rodgers at a club that she "wanted to get f____." She ended up leaving with Clay Matthews which was on video. It was a terrible look for her. She never recovered after she left ESPN.

I'm quite shocked Russini lasted as long as she did after the Washington incident. She's lost all credibility at this point.

I am just using an affair as the worst case scenario. We have no idea what Vrabel and Russini did. The pictures by themselves are pretty innocent. It is the speculation of what they did when they weren't on camera that is the telling thing.

I am sure the fact that Schefter means a lot to the bottom dollar of ESPN, they might fight hard to keep him. So he might be the exception. But there is a chance even he couldn't survive something like that.

But say it is a lesser beat reporter like whoever covers the Colts for ESPN. He would be asked to resign.

Andrews would shock me if any allegation about her was true. I don't get that vibe from her. She seems genuine.

They didn't fire him for 2 Hipaa violations, they ain't firing him for that.

Alone with a female colleague overnight at a couples, adults-only retreat? Is that something you commonly do?

Meeting a female colleague at a romantic getaway 2 hours away from the conference to spend some intimate time alone together is a big deal to the spouses involved.

And it was a pretty big deal to her employer, wasn’t it? I guess you think they are just out of line for investigating the matter?

The only way that Vrabel will be injured by this is IF his wife divorces him.

Kraft and the NFL can and will do nothing.

People keep interpreting these two still images as if they are videos lol. Because they grasped hands for one instant, they must have held hands for a long time. Because they hugged briefly facing a specific direction for an instant, they must have held that pose for a long time, embracing each other, watching the sunset. So romantic!

The fact is that if either of these were true, there would be more pictures than 1 of each. In all likelihood, both were single moments in time.

Its a story as old as time itself and things will never change.

Very difficult for a guy to say no to an attractive woman after him.

The person who just delivered an unsolicited lecture on the shamefulness of "gossip", is now using the word pontificating as a pejorative. Two posts apart, without a trace of self-awareness.

So to recap: discussing a current news story with a range of perspectives = shameful gossip worthy of your moralizing sermons. Calling the media "whores" and telling people to **** themselves = totally fine, actually noble.

The same behavior you were just condemning (performative outrage, contempt for the discussion, broad-brush dismissal of everyone involved), you’re now openly endorsing, just aimed at a different target.
Perhaps you could post something more coherent, or, if your passion cannot, as seems to be the case, be contained within the bounds of coherent reason, you could demonstrate your solidarity with the handwringers, journalistic and otherwise, by joining them in ****ing themselves.

There is no HIPAA law for reporters. His sources might have violated HIPAA, but that isn't Schefter's problem.

The only way Schefter can violate HIPAA laws is if he committed fraud to obtain medical records like claiming to be a player's relative to get medical records.

Their cover story was that they were there with a group of friends. But, interestingly, none of those "friends" were willing to put themselves out there to save Russini's career. Some friends. Maybe the imaginary kind.
