So Rogers made $13.65m with the Steelers last year with up to $19.5m through incentives. My guess is they are offering him close to the same. Denver has $18m-$19m in cap space. Denver has no first round pick and 7 picks in the draft. They will need about $6m to sign their draft class. So its fiscally possible it could happen, but is that fiscally responsible? Its throwing away $14+m for a few wins when your defense is elite and has a change to win those games anyway with average QB play. Their strength of schedule falls in the middle of the league. They don't need a 1st round bye to compete in the playoffs with that defense.

Rodgers isn't going anywhere that he isn't guaranteed the starting role. You don't go from being one of the best QBs of all time to a back up. Especially someone who has a diva personality like Rodgers.

The Steelers are pretty much banking on Rodgers being back next season. So if Payton cannot guarantee him the starting role, then Rodgers will just go back to the Steelers.

Rodgers isn't Russell Wilson who can go from "The guy" to holding a clipboard.

That's the dumbest thing I ever heard UNLESS Bonix is so badly injured that he is going to miss the entire season - and there haven't been any reports even remotely suggesting that.

I can understand bringing in a capable backup (like KC did with Fields) if you need him for a couple September starts but bringing in Rodgers would be a nightmare.
