Patriots Injury News The Patriots placed WR Mack Hollins on IR

Maye's security blanket is Hunter Henry. He also has a pretty good rapport with Hooper and Stevenson.

Maye has been taking the "throw to who is open" route.

Hollins has been good for the high-points over the middle and the occasional sideline. Now, Maye is going to have to work on getting Williams the ball when Williams is open. Maye had an issue last year and the beginning of this year of missing the open receivers because he'd hyper-focused on the top receivers. Now, he's doing a better job and it's paid dividends.

Diggs, Williams, Henry, Hooper, and Stevenson are going to have to step up. As is D'Ernest Johnson. I am not expecting a lot from Douglas because of the hamstring injury. It clearly affected him the last game after it happened. I am also not expecting Henderson to see a lot of snaps if he's dressed.

Efton Chism just needs playing time and targets to show how much he can contribute. He doesn't match Hollins skill set, but he can give them a reliable target going forward.

The world has gone mad

All I know is that his skill set has balanced this team nicely. Wishing him a speedy recovery. I actually have nothing but praises for all our players this year.

So well said Sir

You inferred, I did not imply. I simply showed the stats with him on the field vs off.
Would Drake have a QB rating of 116 the entire year if Hollins didn't play? Yes or no?
It was about 40% of the plays. That is significant.

All the other numbers are from my site so it would be consistent to use the same one. Instead you tried to insult me by saying I can’t do math. That’s beneath you, but I get why you did it.
Says the guy who said I needed help with what a route run is. If you want to play the hurling of insults game, thats fine.
It doesn’t affect my credibility at all to be discussing Hollins yards per route run and finding examples that are similar. It probably costs you a ton of credibility to just dismiss it. There was no extrapolating. It was the number for each. Harry’s was over 670 routes run. Perhaps you should wonder why you are touting a guy who couldn’t produce more per route than Harry instead of pretending the stat that Damond your argument is an insult. The insult is building a career where you are no more effective per route than NKeal Harry. As well as flipping out when it’s shown to you.
I'm not touting Hollins. I'm stating he is more valuable and productive in the offense then Douglas and Williams.

You've said if Harry played the same amount of snaps as Hollins he would be more productive. If you want to backtrack on that statement thats fine. Theres a lot more to being a successful WR than yards/catches per routes ran.
Williams hasn’t had enough opportunity yet but he is better receiver. I can’t believe you would argue Hollins is more talented than Kyle Williams. Wow.
Never said talented. Said not as productive.
I never said Harry was better than Hollins. I said based on how productive they are when running routes, they are very comparable.
See above
Explain how Hollins was a plus and not a detraction (I’d accept comparative non factor) when the team does better when he isnt on the field.
You are anchored to the notion that Hollins is the reason Maye has a 116 QB rating w/o him and a 104 rating with him and is based on 1/2 the snaps. If you want to compare apples to apples what is Mayes QB rating and stats on the routes run by Hollins and someone else. We all know Hollins is #1 in WR snaps on running plays. There is a reason for that.
You realize Douglas has less yards because he plays less. Per route he is about 25% better. Coaching error has Hollins playing more than him.
Sure. Coaches want to play WRs with more drops and less success catching the ball all the time....please.
Someone has to take the 68% of snaps. Diggs is sitting 45% of them. He’s your best receiver. Keeping him off the field so Hollins can play is a mistake. Again I’ll take any of the 4 over him for those 68%.

Before this year Douglas 1.55 yprr, Hollins 1.07. This year Douglas 1.99 Hollins 1.60. Douglas has been 25% more productive this year and more than 40% more over their careers.
Hollins is a guy who runs a lot of routes and doesn’t get open very much, but if you keep putting him out there even his mediocre at best ability to get open results in some catches.
He runs intermediate to deep routes. Look at the ave target depth. Hes 13. Douglas is under 10yds. The farther a player is away from the QB, the lower the Qb rating typically is. Diggs is almost 9. Boutte is insane at almost 17yds. Thats Wes Chandler Chargers numbers..

If you want to agree with me, say "target Boutte more and Hollins less" .
Many other receivers would produce more. That is the story of his career.
Thats the Sony Michel argument. Hollins has produced here. That is a fact - not a speculation.
It’s relevant to his team wanting him around. Cooks was traded FOR numerous times. Hollins was let go numerous times.
Yes it is irrelevant. Hollins contract expired numerous times and the other team wanted him. Philly, BUF. You imply he was cut everywhere and that's not true. Allen had a 118 qb rating throwing to Hollins last year and they wanted him back..Hollins is a WR3/4/5. Those guys move teams all the time.

Hollins makes $4m.
Meyers just signed a 3 year $60m extension.
$16m a year delta, that's not chump change.
Sports pundits are boasting about the difference that Meyers has made to the Jags passing offense since signing there.

Since Jakobi joined the team, in their last 9 games they've averaged 32ppg and have beaten 3 playoff-bound teams. His #s have been Jakobi-esque

Lawrence's # don't jump out but they are def hitting their stride as a team

Jacobi has been really good for them.

I am amazed that there's a productive #3 WR on this team, which is 13-3 and playing for the #1 seed and yet folks want to ***** about him. Dude's been a good soldier, right place, right time. He's freakin' Chris Hogan 2.0. He's not more than that, a #3 WR. I am shocked that this guy has guys so passionate about their arguments. At least two threads I know of making the same cases.

13-3, boys. AFC Champs. 13 and fekkin' 3.

Only here do we complain about a WR who has 46 catches for 550 yards as a WR3/4 and the Qb has a 104 rating with him on the field and catches 71% of his targets with 2/3s of them going for 1st downs while scoring 28ppg.

It just works. No more analysis needed.

There should be zero complaints about Mack. He has far exceeded any expectations we had for him. We will miss him.

Meyers is a great route runner and knows where a QB needs him to be in a scramble drill… he was formerly a QB so he understands the assignment. He’s bigger, a good blocker and has soft hands…. he’s just not fast. Good addition for them…

Hollins injury could be a blessing in disguise, getting the rookie WR’s some much needed snaps. Williams in particular could be a game changer, especially if he emulates Diggs.

Love his potential but i'm not there yet with him in a playoff game getting 40 snaps as he is still prone to running the wrong route, wrong body position on backside throws and drops.

If anything i'd like to see Boutte with more targets.

All rookies do. Last two weeks hes been seeing more snaps. I suspect that'll continue vs MIA.

Clearly you guys have not watched the film

He has Diggs potential, he just needs to keep emulating Diggs and working hard. I prefer his speed on the field than on the sideline. His vertical ability gives this offense a potent punch and Maye has a cannon arm.
