Patriots Injury News The Patriots placed WR Mack Hollins on IR

Tough loss, unfortunately no 1 for 1 replacement for what he brings to the WR room with his size, blocking, and catch radius.

It's a tough blow for the depth but if losing Mack Hollins derails your season you were never a real threat to begin with.

If it was Diggs then we'd have a real problem, Hollins should be replaceable as long as someone else doesn't go down, i know he's good at blocking for the run game but we need to replace about 40 yards a game.
It shouldn't derail the season, but does make things more difficult. Unlike Cobee Minor replacing Charles Woods, this one actually matters some.

He's more valuable than that.
He has made big catches at key times for first downs, and several were tough, high catches no one else on our roster is making.
You've ben consistent on your thoughts on him since training camp, as have I, we just see his value differently.
It’s not like we have to play with 10. Another receiver will be in place to get that production.

Since only one team per conference gets the bye in the post-season, as opposed to the regular season when everyone gets a bye, the rule should be different.

A bye is supposed to be a benefit that a team earns and part of that benefit should count as a played week for IR return.

Mack Hollins is out? d%#*!@t, i knew we should have kept Bourne!!!

Terrible news. He's a huge favorite of Maye on third downs and long situations. They're pretty ****ed. Unless they can magically be able to run the ball effectively I don't see them making much playoff noise without hollins.
Not really. Maye has completed 27 passes on 3rd and long, only 3 have been to Hollins.

The inability to run the ball has made hollins a huge part of this offense. Think of how many times Maye targets hollins on third and long. This is a crippling injury

Webb seemed to be a team and staff favorite but nothing remotely similar to Hollins. Giles is pretty big but doesn’t have Hollins’ hands.

This is why you keep guys like Bourne around. Defenses will double Diggs and a #2/3 WR at best will need to step in and have an excellent postseason.

Hollins receiving yards per route run = 1.60
Diggs, Boutte, Douglass Williams yards per route run 1.84
That’s a 15% increase in production when the other receivers are running the routes
Again Hollins has made some plays, but we will be replacing him with a receiver more capable of getting open and making plays

Also you're right and he's wrong.

NGL I was concerned but now that it has been proclaimed Boutte (out) and Douglas (questionable) will make up for Hollins absence we have nothing to fear. Blocking you say? Not to worry they have a couple of weeks to learn to block effectively in traffic in spite of being nowhere near Hollins size, not a problem. To think I was actually concerned the Pats might miss their best blocking and number 2 volume receiver, what was I thinking?

We need to replace 3 catches for 37 yards by having someone else (Diggs, Williams, Boutte or Douglas) play those snaps

Another great season ruined by injuries late in the season.

Reminds me of 2015.
OT, but I think that team had an opportunity to go undefeated without injuries. They were that good.

Turning point of the season was that guy muffing a return in Denver and allowing them back in a game they ultimately won.
