Barmore Benching

It’s not perfect. While it ‘might not be much’, the fact that he sat for a while because of this AND refused to speak w reporters postgame. Add to that the fact that he’s been hard to get on the field at times, yet he’s one of the more talented players….

I hope Vrabel is able to steer this in the right direction - whatever it is. This team isn’t the vet laden 2004 squad. But, it does have a lot more vets than it did in the last few years.

The way this team has responded to Vrabel I suspect this won't become an issue and the details will remain 'in house'

At least he didn't pull a BB with him: we know what he would have done to the detriment of the Team.
I don’t really like the “benching for a quarter” thing if we’re being honest. Not sure what it accomplishes, and it’s very public.

One reporter said that he heard a 'player' (by name) was disrespectful to one of the low-wage grade staff at Foxboro last week. The reporter said that named player was on the field all game yesterday. So he speculated the person who told him might have got the name wrong and it was possibly Barmore.

I was thinking it was likely related to his weekly Wed "healthy - did not practice". After getting that for weeks, he maybe thought he could stretch it out. That often happens when you give one guy slightly 'more equal than others' treatment. They get entitled. If he doesnt get this Wed off; that might be an indicator.

Either way; ... Vrabel put it to bed. I think it would be best to let the sleeping dog lie.

I thought that incident was one of the rookies, not Barmore.

Hahaha. Bill haters gonna bend over backwards trying to explain how this is different from the Welker or Butler discipline. This should get entertaining.
Bil Ball washers right back at you.

it looked like Vrabel and Barmore embraced after the game where Coach greets all the players. I think that means they settled the issue like grown men and put the incident behind them...

Or they settled it like the grown men I know and are letting bitterness and resentment grow in the shadows until it festers into a raging hatred.

They hugged at end of game so seems behind them.

That's one way to look at it. Another is that no one outside the team knew about it till yesterday and now Barmore is going to keep getting asked about it over and over again by friends, family, reporters, etc. Could be that what we thought was over Sunday is only going to come back to life later today, this week, or this season.

Seems he did not talk to the media after the game so he's not thrilled about it. Who would be? One big sign of it really being over would be him telling the media the penalty was fair and it's all water under the bridge, but we didn't get that.

The whole idea of the penalty is to act as a deterrent. Some times that's how things play out: the penalized party realized they did something wrong, accepts the penalty and changes their behavior. Other times the party being penalized doesn't think the penalty is fair and resentment builds.

Not sure one hug in the hallway tells us much about the true state of affairs.

I thought Weds off was a medical thing related to last year's blood clots.

You have to have standards. They need to be reasonable or people lose trust in you, but without that structure things go to ****. It's pretty obvious that Vrabel has made it clear to everyone what he expects out of them, and what standards are, then he has to hold people accountable to them. Much as I like Barmore he's no different than anyone else, and Vrabel was right to hold him accountable.

Mike use the term “…protect the team”
