So here I was thinking that this game is going to be a walk over. At LEAST a double-digit win in a game we might see Dobbs in for the final quarter and Chism catching his first NFL pass.

And then tonight I get a slap in the face of reality and see the Steelers go down to a team they had NO business losing to. It was a mismatch close to what I see our game with the Titans. AND they were missing their most impactful defensive player on a horrible team, with bad offense while they have a defense getting better every week. How can they lose. Well then they did. I forgot the oldest rule of NFL fandom. "on any given Sunday...." Any team can beat another. ANY TEAM.

Now I am not so ****y about Sunday. The "fired HC bump" now makes me nervous. The 3 road game in a row will cause me to wake up in the middle of the night. And I will appreciate ANY kind of victory come Sunday.
Idk, the patriots should have smoked the steelers - 5 turnovers and it was still close.

That said. I am a strong believer in any team can win in the nfl.

Well, we could have traded from 1 to 2 and got a future first and more and from 2 to 4 for another future first and then still taken the franchise LT so Mayo is still ass, as Cam Ward would say.

Uhhhhh, my point was that Mayo sabotaged our ability to maneuver out of the first pick, but we still got the pick we were going after anyway.

Do you remember 2001 when, as the season wore on, commentators would write about "the surprising Patriots"?
I want them to be "the surprising Patriots" again.

Do you remember 2004?
If we're talking about what we want them to be, I'd just as soon they were the juggernaut Patriots again.
YMMV

Let's see if he can last longer than they guy he replaced, TE Marshall Lang.

Signed on Tuesday, released on Thursday.
Wish he had a NFL stat.

“Don’t worry guys everyone is staying on except for that guy we fired… oh, and that guy’s dad who resigned… oh, and also this other guy we randomly fired too”
So other than all of THAT Mrs Lincoln, how did you like the play?

The flip side about the road game streak is that the team will not have to go on the road for more than 1 week at a time until the end of the season.

After this week:
Home
Home
AWAY
Home (Thursday night)
AWAY (mini-bye due to prior Thursday game)
Home
BYE WEEK
Home
AWAY
AWAY
Home

There's a nice stretch where they play the Jets at home on Thursday night, then get a mini-bye for their next game which is away at Cincinnati, and then after that they're home for 3 weeks (game, bye week, game).

This why some stats can’t be trusted. From ESPN:

“Treyveon Henderson , get an excellent matchup behind an offensive line that ranks seventh in run block win rate (73.4%) against a defense allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to RBs.”

I’m sorry, 7th best run block win rate?
How the hell is this calculated, because I have not seen that at all.

1. Based on player tracking data, not film
2. Evaluated by computer algorithm, not people

Like ESPN’s QBR and draft pick value chart, it just makes less sense the more you learn how it actually works.
