Welp, now we’ll have more competition for an edge rusher (assuming we’re in the market for one) with this announcement. SF & PHI will (should) be looking to add talent at/before the deadline.

In 2023, after his first season in Tampa, I suggested that the Patriots should consider signing at-the-time free agent Baker Mayfield. My theory was that the Pats had plenty of cap space, too many holes to be filled, and signing a QB in free agency would give them better options in the draft (stay put or traded down) - as opposed to having to draft whichever QB was still available at #3.

The forum collectively disagreed with that concept.

Being able to select Drake Maye has been a huge positive (perhaps the one and only positive of the Mayo/Wolf regime). Continuing the 'what if' butterfly effect, the Patriots draft trade down, and pick an OT (Joe Alt) plus a WR with the extra pick. Or conversely, pick Marvin Harrison Jr, with an extra draft pick still on hand. If the Pats already had Alt, they then could have selected another player other than Will Campbell at #4 this year.

Mike Evans was a free agent too; perhaps he follows Baker Mayfield to NE?

Bottom line is that it is a good thing the Patriots did not make that move; it could have led to Jerod Mayo still being the Pats head coach.

The butterfly thing always makes for an interesting alt reality. Do the rhino fart one next

I think it has to do with the red-billed oxpecker

Ya, in the mirror.

What's a rhino fart?

Whatever it wants. Who's to argue?
I wanted more story time with JMT, if a butterfly's tiny flap can cause an alt reality story just imagine the exponential tale a rhino's fart might generate.

He doesn't stray too far from Pats stories but when he does (like The Who story), it's very entertaining.

That's the kind of insightful observation that keeps me coming back here on the daily. You don't get that kind of in depth rumination anywhere else.

@jmt57 stories are the best. He does the best story times precisely because he knows the subject matter that's gonna sell here. Man knows his audience.
