The only thing that counts is playoffs if you're focusing on disappointment for that team.

150 yds per game............ 7 TD's 5 Int..................... 85.2 passing rating....................
The only year the Titans won playoff games under Vrabel

Tannehill: 5TD, 1INT, 98.5 passer rating plus a rushing TD.

He was good those years, their most success came in his best year and his best playoff run. They instantly became a playoff team when he got there, they stopped going to the playoff the minute he got his ankle injury and ultimately retired as a result.

Anybody can ignore all the stats and what actually happened to present a narrow view.

Tom Brady wasn’t really good in 07 because the AFCCG and Super Bowl were the two biggest games of the year and he had 3 TD’s and 3INT’s with a low 80’s passer rating in those two games against an injured Rivers and a mediocre Eli Manning. Clearly needed the 85 Bears to have any shot at winning the SB that year with how mediocre he was in those two games. The regular season and a divisional round game against the Jaguars are just table stakes and don’t matter as much.

That’s basically what you just did

Point is, nobody who watched those games would ever say Tannehill was the problem with those teams. He once got the 24th ranked defense to a winning record. He was good. Go to a Titans board and make that claim and see the reception it receives.

Anyways this is a tangent and I’d rather we just enjoy the Pats win instead of debate a QB from half a decade ago

The fact remains in 5 playoff games that D only allowed more than 20 points once. Not putting it all on Tannehill by any means but it is undeniable he came up small in big moments.

And yes, I too would rather talk Pats

I haven't read through all 22 pages in this thread but I thought the coach on both sides of the ball was not good. The defense although not as bad as the offense never really adjusted well to how quick Rattler was getting rid of the ball and played a soft coverage that allowed them to dink and dunk up and down the field and get points. Olave was absolutely killing us I dont know why they didnt have Gonzo on him the entire game.

As for the offense......can we please stop running a draw to Rham on 1st down everyone knows its coming. He more times than not gets no gain or a loss, he is not Blunt and cant drag people for a couple extra yards. I know there are issues with the run game as a whole but Josh needs to get creative to try to make it at least somewhat effective. Use Henderson's speed get him going to the outside with the ball, use some mis-direction, more play action, throw him the ball in space. The run game is like a basic high school scheme, very disappointed. The goal line drive....geesh. You have Diggs, you have Hollins and Boutte, you have Henry and Cooper. Throw the damn ball in the end zone. Its not like all this should be new to Josh. What ever happen to the quick slant when you need like 3 yards? Welker, Edelman and Dola did it all the time. Why cant Pop, Diggs and Williams be used in a similar fashion?

Maye and the receivers won this game. Did you think after last year that the passing game would carry the team. The run game is not just ineffective its detrimental in moving the ball and staying in front of the sticks. How many 3rd and longs has the offense converted? It feels like a ton, we must be near the top of the league. That's good I just don't think its a recipe for long term success to be so one dimensional.

The coaching needs to step up their game. You can see some of this on Vrabels face on the sidelines. He would not be a good poker player I still think the team is moving in the right direction. We should be looking to buy coming into the trade deadline to help some areas. If they can solve this run issue they should make a run into the post season.

This is certainly one of the takes of all time.

Great adjustment to the passing chart for Maye

Yes, Saints offense is similarly to what Miami runs.. Tua has given us problems with the read options. Tua and rattler are essentially the same type of QB.
How are Tua and Rattler the same type of QB? I see Tua throwing bombs to Tyreek and Waddle and Rattler throwing nearly all passes 20 yards and under.

Henderson did a good job, but anyone can see that Henderson was not blocking Cam Jordan, a DE. That was Justin Reid, a safety, a much easier blocking assingment. The difference between a DE and Safety is pretty obvious - who is Ben Belford-Peltzman?

Today's game did emphasize that the Patriots really need to find a decent RB option.

Stevenson had an absolute stinker of a game and we had nobody viable to replace him. 1.4 YPC for Stevenson.

Personally I think he had a strong game in pass protection, and as per Ken's idle thoughts Josh didn't do much this week to with misdirections or screens to get him some openings. It got to the point late in the game the defense knew if they shot a gap they would find him, and they did it several times. Josh didn't seem to make them pay for being overly aggressive.

I was told in the GDT that it was just Josh trying to run off clock and of course at the end of the game it turned out that it was all about the clock, so perhaps we need to factor that into things when we look at Rham's day.

Yet, I don't see the harm in trying to get some movement so Rham could gain more yards on the ground. It seemed we left so many things up to Drake on 3rd down. Fortunately he made it work, but still, it was frustrating at times to watch.

Yeah, Cam Jordan ran into the Great Wall of Campbell on that one.

What a non-factor the Saints pass rush was. Disappointing for @State to be sure. So was Keandre Miller's 3ypc, Rashid Shaheed's 1 catch on a bubble screen, and "Talking about DPOY" Jonas Sanker having his lunch handed to him by Pop Douglas the entire game.

I don't know how much it factors into things, but Stevenson pretty clearly changed the way he was carrying the ball. He was using the Kevin Faulk later-career "high and tight" method.

Certainly no excuse, he was pretty terrible running the ball.

The run game situation…

I think it’s a perfect storm combo of:

-Onwenu is a fat, useless tub of goo who is stealing the Patriots money.

-Moses is just old…he does what he can and has certainly uograded that spot.

Bradbury…not powerful.

Two rookies who are learning.

Stevenson is both slow to accelerate AND they have him lining up REALLY far in the backfield.

Henderson seems totally visionless…rookie.

No fullback.

Piss poor blocking TE’s.

So…need OL upgrades, and a bellcow plus a FB/blocking TE.

Westover can get cut tomorrow IMO.
Good post. It is easy to take the low hanging fruit and just say our running backs suck and that’s it.

I agree they haven’t been very good but the blocking has been heinous. Our tight ends (love ‘em) being **** at it has also been an underreported problem.

Only saw part of game, but some thoughts:

1. Good to pull out a win and avoid a let down on the road. Learning how to win in the NFL when not playing your best is huge.

2. Injuries. Gonzalez and Williams clearly not 100%. Avoided major injury scare.

3. Pats are in any game as long as Maye healthy. He is ascending at an incredible pace. Give him an average rushing attack and Pats would have top 5 offense

4. Defense has well documented holes, but still allowing under 20ppg.

5. Need to extend Jones, Boutte, Tonga, Chaisson.

6. Vrabel means Tenn will not be a letdown.
Minor additi

Your tone might be harsh but your statements are bang on .

Onwenu
Rham
Hooper
Moses
Hollins
Dugger

Might need to be replaced

Williams and Henderson will probably be in because of draft status next year but will need to show more to be retained. I know they are rookies , but other rookies like skattebo and egbuka are performing. They can at least contribute to 25% of those rookies .

Campbell, woodson, Wilson ,borregales , farmer and Ashby are balling which is good.

Not sure how much cash we will have after extending Jones, gonzo , Boutte .

Pop is not getting a contract here and Stevenson will probably be on practice squad of some other team next year.
