NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION W6 Other Games: Thursday Night Football Edition: PHI v NYG

If you could redo last year’s draft, I think a strong case could be made for the LSU TE instead of Henderson, knowing the prejudice against white RBs and the poor 40 time of Skattebo would mean he would be available in the third round, where we had two picks.

In fact he went in the fourth round. And the kid’s dominating performance in the college playoffs is the stuff of legends.

Mason Taylor, the son of HOFer Jason, has been about the only bright for the catastrophe that is the New York Jets.

It’s really a question of, did we draft the wrong guys, or are we using them incorrectly. Hell, Henderson’s RB partner in Ohio State is having a big rookie year in Cleveland. Why isn’t Henderson getting more carries, why isn’t our fastest receiver being used (2 catches all year). Hell, the receiver selected one pick after Williams, TesLaa, has only 3 catches, but 2 of them have gone for TDs. He’s also 6’4” 225 and almost as fast as Williams (he ran a 4.43 to Williams 4.40).

What are we doing here ? It’s not a total failure, got our starting LG and LT as well as a starting Safety. But when it comes to the offensive weapons, it’s really questionable.

Phillys in trouble imo. The defense looked suspect from opening night and has only gotten worse week to week.

Hurts has looked completely average at best whenever aj has been out or a couple linemen are out and its not a brick wall in front of him. Aka anything less than a super team around him. Howd he miss dvontae on that gimme td lol

I'm giving it to the halfway mark scott: I really liked KW coming out and what he showed pre draft. KW looked like an accomplished Receiver. Not gonna lie I wanted RB Cam Skattebo later in the Draft: but was told he's a fumbler. The Giants had a Great Draft with Him and Dart.

I think that Skattebo dropped in the draft because he ran a 4.7 or something like that at the combine. But like Tom Brady said about the combine, those things aren’t my skill set. There is plenty of video of Skattebo running away from people, he’s faster on the field, maybe he just ran a bad 40. Also, he’s got some wiggle in his game too, he’ll run around and through people. I always said he reminded me of a smaller John Riggins, who early in his career, had enough speed to run past people, it was only in his later years that he was more power than speed.

You can’t argue with his production in college, it wasn’t just a one time thing, he’s proving he can do it in the pros as well.

I understand the appeal of Henderson, great straight line speed, and he’s an old school personality in that he isn’t a selfish player who acts like it’s all about him. Also he’s a good receiving back. The pass blocking has been a big disappointment considering he was considered one of the best pass blocking backs in the draft.

We need to get Henderson & Williams going. Sooner or later, defenses will be able to solve Diggs & Henry, need other guys to step up.

Eagles are overrated and were never that good. In fact, they had a clear path in 2024 because other teams imploded. A healthy Lions or 49ers team kicks the crap out them.

Same with the Commanders.

I get wanting more from Henderson and Williams, but describing this draft class as "not a total failure" is a pretty wild understatement IMO. Just 5 games in, this is already looking like a foundational draft for the franchise.

I'm super curious to see Henderson against the Saints, given all that happened last week. As for Williams, I think it's telling that Mack Hollins has played more snaps than Stefon Diggs. Josh clearly values the things Hollins is doing away from the ball.

AJ Brown is a nut case. He has proven to be a cancer in the locker room, and even on the field. Saw a deep pass to him last week, where he literally slowed down running his route, then had to speed up to try to catch it. It looked like a badly overthrown pass by Hurts, but the ball went where the route was supposed to be. Don’t know what Brown was thinking.

Even though Vrabel drafted Brown, I don’t know if Vrabel can fix his mental issues. He’s still physically able to dominate, but man, those tantrums, I don’t want him on the Pats.

Two costly turnovers by philly otherwise they would’ve been in this game

I disagree with this. They were GREAT last year. Their defense was great, and their offense was really good. What happens to SB teams, because of success, they lose coordinators and key players. Losing guys like Milton Williams and Josh Sweat hurt there defense big time. On offense, I believe they are suffering from injuries and have a new OC.

It’s not easy just filling in holes and thinking you can be a great team again.

To me, Hollins is another TE, I have no issues with him. Good blocker, and can get open. Good red zone target because nobody covers him. But he’s not an explosive WR.

So now we shoulda drafted Taylor after Henderson has had 32 carries in his NFL career?
Oh, and Taylor has 20 catches and 175 yds in 5 games with 0 TDs.
Jump to conclusions much?
Skattabo is fun too watch, but his running style is not prone to a long productive career. He had one big game against an Eagles D in disarray.
I like our draft class just fine.

I know the play you are talking about... and yeah, not a good look...

as for getting him here, the cost would be too much... let someone else pay the price, or make an offer if he is released... personally, i think he stays in Philly through the 2026 season... who wants to take on that contract? '26 is the last year of guaranteed dollars, so it looks like there is an out after that, with actual cap savings to making the move...

Any else think about Cam Skettebo on the Patriots. You could see how the Giants OL fed off his desire to seek out contact. And with his strength, low center of gravity, and Rudy-like Heart, it was a revelation to many.

But he showed it at Arizona State especially in the playoffs.

But straight line speed is to a RB what arm length is to an OT.
Was a binky during the draft. He is a violent runner.

I always take the 40 times with a grain of salt. Its similar but not the same to running on a football field in a football uniform.

3-4 years is about the life expectancy of a running back. After that point they may still play and be good but they are on the decline.

Those issues might make acquiring him a lot cheaper, and if he is motivated to play under Vrabel it could be a nice addition.

I agree with the Skattebo comment, his style of play does lead to having a short career.

I think he’s been pretty consistent. His last 5 games.

98 yards
59
79
60
45

His first game he had -3 yards. In total: 82 carries, 338 yards and 5 rushing TDs, in 6 games. And he’s had 20 catches for 155 yards. Thats really good for a rookie.
