Everyone believes in Kyle Shanahans ability to get mid quarterbacks to function above their ability except himself who gave up 3 first round picks for Trey Lance then paid Brock Purdy 52m a year.

Yeah and he'll always have limitations which will always handicap him even when he's maxed out, that's his biggest problem more than the suckbag coaching he got or how terrible he was with the Patriots, he doesn't have the upside.

You can't win big with Mac Jones level quarterbacking in 2025.

You can function and do a lot better than the Pats did though but you're always going to need more, he's ideal for a backup though a guy who can come in and function and win games is priceless.

I would also add to the Mac Jones commentary, he looked especially horrific when it was cold and windy his arm looked like a complete noodle then.

Playing in domes and warm weather would definitely hide some limitations that we seen exposed.

Jones has always played fine when the game goes according to the script. Once he's asked to play from behind such as a 10-14 point deficit or the game calls for more passing than running is when he gets into trouble. Jimmy G was the same way with Shanahan which was why they kept trying to move on from him.
