I don't know is that a statement of how good the Patriots draft was this year or a damnation of how bad the roster he inherited is. Probably a little bit of both.

I don't think we can count on doing things the way we used to. I think we used to rely on swing tackles and players who could backup all of the IOL positions, but it feels like they're planning on having a lot of backup help on the line (with the chance to develop them as well).

LOL! I kinda feel bad for Strange. It isn't his fault the Patriots seriously overdrafted him. He played to the level where most people had him going in the draft. For some unknown reason, the Pats felt he was a first round pick when he was a late second day at best but probably third day pick.

Before injury, Strange outplayed the two guards drafted before him. The Strange hate is irrational. After a major injury all bets are off.

Granted the Pats should have been drafter receiver help for Mac Jones since he was a QB that everyone recognized needed talent around him and wasn't a Brady who could elevate mediocre receivers. But in hindsight, that draft sucked for WRs. Thornton obviously was a bust. But no one else succeeded other than headcase George Pickens and even the Steelers felt he was more trouble than he was worth.

By using 2 now you essentially get a 55 man roster. And you still have several more IR-DTRs left. I think you get 8. But I suppose we barely have 50 players worth the 53 so I suppose saving a few IRs for later could make more sense then saving someone now.

But roster spots are so much more valuable now.

As the season wears on, and more guys are out, there always seems like a shortage of remotely capable players to fill a roster.

You can essentially IR players by just making them inactive because the practice squads are large (plus you can elevate players) and capable replacements are few.

There's no reason NOT to use it. You just get to send 2 players straight to IR that you might want to come back later, plus any guys you put on the initial 53 and then move to IR after a day. You can only "return" 8 players during the season, but you aren't required to bring back every guy that you put on this list. If you need to IR and bring back different guys later then you can just leave these other guys on the IR list and they'll stay on IR all year.

I thought he was a good not great guard. Again, probably should have been a late second day pick.

Sure. But have you seen the Chiefs' receiving corp? They make the Pats look like the Eagles' receiving corp. Being an average receiver would draw raves from Reid and Mahomes.

I’ll be really surprised if V. Lowe makes the 53 with his $3.4 million salary still in tact. Know the have the cap space, but that’s a lot to pay an iffy backup tackle.

I think it's fair for a quality veteran swing tackle, especially since your starters are a rookie and a grandfather.

If he can relax on the offsides, he's not a bad veteran option to go with Bryant.

Lowe could easily string a few good games together as a reserve.

3 mil is perfectly fine for a decent backup LT who could probably also be fine at RT in a pinch.
