Bell was also a 7th round pick. You crowing about it is ridiculous.
Let me help you with your statement. People on here crowing about a 7th round pick like he actually did something is ridiculous.

It was Patricia and Belichick who moved Sow to the right side. Initially, they also moved him to RT which was a flop. Strange was the LG remember. Peters moved him back to LG last camp where he was on his way to starting it appeared until getting hurt in the last preseason game in Washington.

Patricia and Belichick should have tried him at LT where he played some in college rather than change both his position and side. But, of course, their agenda was to force Trent Brown to play LT even though they promised and paid him to play RT.
Yup. Pissed him and Wynn off and we got nothing out of either of them all year.

Sow is a perfect example of the slow dismantling of a winning organization over BB's last 4 years.
Sow provided hope for a team/fanbase that our OL could be rebuilt from the draft, because he survived a few games - even while stinking so bad... That's how bad it had gotten.
Last night he looked like a HS lineman who was thrown on the varsity OL because he was huge, but hadn't ever played a down before.

Sow played well in 2023.. Yes. he regressed each of the last two years. Not sure why. Could be 3-4 different O-line coaches. Lack of Confidence. Lack of heart. Who knows.

Yes. He looked bad last night. Which is what led to his release.

You're the only one I see doing any sort of "crowing" about Bell.

I saw people speculate that Bell could be a decent 3rd TE. That's what the hope was when he was drafted. Considering that like only 5% of 7th round picks do anything, YOU taking it as more than that is a you problem.

Bell flashed a couple of times last year on a horrid team. The fact he's gone and they have someone who fits better (I'm assuming Westover) in that spot for now is a good thing.

AFAIK there wasn't a Bell cult. Just some people who went 'Hey, he did ok a couple times', which is true.

I had people get all kinds of bent with me when I commented that he wasnt nothing special and was not ideal to transition to a FB. So I clapped back with how fast he went out the door. I have no problem, You came at me not the other way around so YOU had the problem with a post not directed to YOU. But if the shoe fits YOU can wear it....moving on.

Bill's unchecked arrogance at the end on full display. Damning clip.

It's funny how these stories come out in retrospect because at the time, everyone said the Patriots needed a tackle and were focused on drafting a tackle.

But then 6 tackles were taken before the 21st spot, and we traded out.

These were the stories from the very guys coming up with this stuff now.

Of course, all of those tackles were awful and almost everyone except for McDuffie who went after the 21st pick also flopped. The 2nd round was just as big a disaster.

It's curious that this story comes out about the 1 guy who actually turned out to be a good player.

The Bills passed on McDuffie also and took Elam instead.

The amount of draft capital expended on tight ends , wide receivers , offensive linemen and second round cornerbacks is baffling.

Wide receivers

Nkeal
Thornton
Polk
Baker

Pop and Boutte being only decent ones and when we took a flyer in 6th round

Offensive line

Wynn
Strange
Jake Andrews
Steuber
Froholdt
Sidy sow
Robinson
Caeden Wallace

CB

Joejuan

Not listing others like Cyrus Jones, duke Dawson etc. and other flop CBs who were drafted prior to 2019

Marcus Jones - above average.
Stud gonzo -- just got lucky . If commanders took him we might have let go another first rounder.

Tight ends

I don't even remember the 2 folks drafted in 2020 and then add jaheim bell.

It will take another 3 years for us to find a semblance of identity I guess.

Doesnt even account for the 2nd rounder for Sanu and the $9 million for one game from AB.

Man, bill is gone for around 2 years and we still need to bear with the stench of the whiffed draft and trades.

Maybe we can forget about Bill and poor drafts in 2027.

When we talk about depth and quality of roster the last 6 years are just killing us.

Need another monster draft next year and hopefully some development of the depth this year .

Speculation:
Were these guys were let go early so that teams could reach out to them prior to cutdowns?
Does that mean that these 14 have no chance at the Pats Practice Squad?
If that's the case, does that mean the Pats are looking for a different 3rd QB??

Interesting:
It's interesting that if the above is true, they didn't release guys like the following:
Marcus Epps (did he even get 2nd team reps?
Jamal Hasty (who stunk, imho)
Terrell Jennings (did nothing)
Jennings has been hurt. Don’t think he played yesterday. Epps did.

I agree that this crop is probably unlikely to go to the PS, since other teams have several days to look at them first. I’m guessing they decided that Wooldridge wasn’t worth keeping over any other random QB with much more experience that they can pick up for the PS. Those types of guys will be much more plentiful in a few days, as many teams who have been hoarding 4 QBs all camp will cut down to 3 or even 2.

Unless you were using your VCR to watch a game from last century, you shouldn't have been surprised at what happens in the last pre-season game.
No, I should not expect the Pats to move the ball whatsoever.

I should expext Jimmy Winston who is a bust throwing TD passes. The Giants looked like they were ready to complete.

Someone was asking about waivers. I believe once you've been waived the clock starts and other teams have 24 hours to claim you and you don't go into a pool for post cutdown deadline day or anything like that.

I thought anyone cut has got to go through waivers. Are cut veterans with certain years in the league allowed to be free agents?
Yes

Players with less than 4 accrued seasons go through waivers. Those that are Vets are FAs and can sign with any team.

  • Agree
Reactions: sb1
Strange has looked oddly complacent. He's certainly worth more than Sow or T. Robinson as a backup, but he hasn't presented well of late. They'll probably keep 2 out of these last 8 guys. And I bet it's the first 2. (maybe Robinson & Conley stick on the PS)

Strange, Wallace, Jacobs, Lowe, Lindstrom, L. Robinson, Conley, Butler
I think Wallace and Lowe stick on the 53, with Strange and Jacobs and perhaps one guard (probably Conley or L.Robinson) going to PS.

Are waivers on a rolling basis based on when a player is released or do they all go into the waiver pool for Wednesday? In other words, do teams have to wait until Wednesday to pick up released players on waivers even though they're released today?
The cut down to 53 ends on 8/26 @ 4:00 pm.

From what I read Teams can begin claiming and negotiating with players then.

Darnell Washington, the behemoth TE in Pittsburgh, worth a look if he is cut?

Bill was thinking with his little head instead of his big head the last few years he was here. He was a little distracted
