The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

Sorry. I don't follow your point re player/GM's. I was referring no so much to their comparative success following the break as observing that Tom - despite some painful moments re his marriage - has handled his career's swan song with obviously far better grace than Bill has. I kinda think that's undeniable.
Tom could leave to a hyper talented Tampa team, most hyper talented teams already have a head coach and a GM who is quite satisfied with his position.

There are only 32 teams, most have coaches, many have owners known for being toxic or tied at the wrist with GM’s who are dug in. In short, there are very few enviable coaching jobs available every year… meanwhile roughly half the teams are looking for a starting QB or to upgrade from the average one they have.
Does anyone really expect NC to 'win a national championship' or to be "ultra competitive"? Early returns are certainly not promising, and I have not seen anyone seriously assert that this is likely.
Too early to tell. I didn’t even say they would be… but they might.
"a GM/Coach can’t just leave for an ultra talented roster elsewhere" I think they could, in fact. Arguably, if Bill had not so thoroughly trashed his reputation in his last few years here, he might certainly have had a shot a finding a job either in the NFL or in the college ranks coaching a very talented team.
There were no good jobs, Atlanta might have been the best of a bad lot last year and the current GM was scared to hire Bill. The year prior there were no good jobs. He went to college instead. A good college job is better than a bad pro job.
I often find myself defending the notion that Bill's final years here were a failure. I take no pleasure in this, I am very appreciative of Bill's good years here, and I wish him well; but I find delusions re the quality of his work in his final phase here and various defenses of his manner and choices since utterly baffling.
Bills last few years here were a disaster… why?

With a little effort I'm sure we'd find them but the real point is that you imply this when you guys say it was all Brady. This ignores and belittles everyone that played Defense or special teams while Brady was here as well as the coaches.
So you can't find it and need magical implications.

The two of them are becoming a major distraction. Won't be surprised if UNC cuts ties sooner than we thought.

More likely they saw he cratered his own team at age 72 and wanted nothing to do with that. Neither would I if I were them. The main reason for the Super Bowls was no longer around and retired and he should have considered doing the same.

Are you wearing this today or just on weekends?

Yeah if this is happening then the UNC football program has a problem. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Bill and Bunny don't make it to season kickoff.
June 1st passed and he's still here. Who's more wrong than SB1.

Please show a single post of anyone saying this.
Attributing team success to one player and the power of leadership magic is promulgated here regularly.

This thread is a testament to it, otherwise we wouldn’t be on page 139 with haters keeping it afloat.

Ty Law and Richard Seymour weren’t great because Tom made them great…. he was a developmental QB in 2001, a kid in a room full of pro bowl caliber vets. Having to practice against them and Bill’s defense made Tom great if anything, having Charlie Weis show him how to play QB and Tom’s intangibles did the rest.

You don’t have Tom without Bill setting the table. Tom on Arizona gets destroyed in 2000, he ends up selling real estate in Pomona and walking with a limp.

Don't get so triggered when you're wrong. You're wrong too often to let it intensify so much it will cause medical problems for you.

You're mistaking my amusement at Team Bill for being triggered

Tampa led the entire NFL in passing for two years before Tom got there. They had Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB.

Tampa had the number one defensive front in football for years before Tom.

They needed a QB, Tom needed a Superteam…. Tampa was that team.

You were talking up Bailey Zappe and challenged me to be here after the Chargers game that year when Zappe destroyed them... instead he got shut out by the worst defense in the league and you were nowhere to be found. Ya might want to sit out any discussions of how good QB's may be...

This ^ is another lie.

I created the hashtag #AnyoneButMac…

I said I would play Zappe or Will Grier… anyone but Mac. That’s not talking up Zappe. Also in limited snaps Zappe played better than Mac and deserved a longer look.

But leave it to you to change the subject entirely, lie and obfuscate. You’re a disgrace.

No 7-9 team in the history of the NFL ought to be considered "hyper talented". They were a flawed team with holes. Brady got there and they became great. He brought more to them than being good at throwing a football, it was the same here.

I can tell. "Superteam"

A superteam everywhere but QB.

So out one side of your mouth you’re attributing the entire success of the Patriots to Tom.

Out the other side of your mouth a bad QB like Jameis or Fitzpatrick can’t result in a 7-9 team?

Again… your football knowledge and ability to be consistent is disgraceful.

Nah you were talking up Zappe like he was the next Brady. Didn't show up here after he got shut out by the worst defense in the league after chirping at me all week. And I said Zappe was playing really well in the Steelers game and you got all triggered lol.

And no he didn't play better than Mac, they were the same.

He brought with him all the knowledge he learned from Bill along with a few other great players that Bill developed that helped fill those flaws.
