Hey all. Not sure how many of you know this, but PATSFANS.COM is run by @Ian . Ian runs this site as a hobby. Ian does so much work on the site and does it because of his love for the team..

However, to keep the site going, he pays for much of the upkeep himself. But there is a way for YOU to donate as well. The donations go to upkeep of the server and the licensing for the board program.

To make a donation, Click on your username up in the Right-Hand corner. Then click on Account Upgrades.

Many of you don't know this, but we're coming up on the 25th Anniversary of Patsfans.com. That's right. Ian has put up with you muggs for 25 LONG ARDUOUS YEARS!!! WTF was he thinking.. *LOL*

If you can, please consider a donation to help offset the costs of running this board. It's one of the best Fan Boards around..

Is it possible to donate without getting a Paypal account (or any other)? Those sites are very prone to being hacked. I'm fine with donating using a credit card. The top credit card companies have the willingness to protect their customers.

This is what comes up on MY screen when I click the link:

Note where I put the RED ARROW:

Happily contributed. Reluctantly accepted the « must adhere to the code of conduct » !
Yeah. Does this mean you have to pay to adhere to the code of conduct? If I don’t pay can I just ignore it? Inquiring minds want to know!

Eighteen bucks a year is one of the greatest sports entertainment bargains on this planet.

It's amazing to me how some of the frequent posters on this forum are not PatsFans supporter. Come on guys, pony up!

Wow, was offline for a good portion of last night and just saw this. Completely humbled, and wanted to say thank you to everybody, as there were a bunch of you who were incredibly generous overnight.

As @DaBruinz alluded to (shoutout to him for this thread), I registered the domain back in June of 2000 (I think it was June 17th), which is crazy, and definitely can't believe it's been this long. Many of you played a role in the recent server changeover, which was massive because behind the scenes, that whole situation became a little stressful at the end. I'm incredibly grateful for that, and hopefully we're good with this one for a while.

The online climate as a whole is really not great right now in terms of the shifting in search trends, AI, etc, which is crushing independent sites when it comes to search traffic. As a result, it's really hurting ad revenue for everybody. Here, at least monthly, there are the server costs, licenses, Cloudflare, and a few other things. Overall, I basically ride the wave and the season tends to balance out the offseason, albeit the overall interest in the team the last two years in late Oct, Nov, Dec really had a tough impact. Definitely need that to turn around.

I don't run ads for registered users, because I just need it to sustain itself. But the arrow continues to point downward, and I shudder to think what we'll be up against in the coming years. It is what it is, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. But any of you who might know someone who has a site, I'm sure they've probably said something. If you have another site you visit in whatever industry they're in, if they're an independent site and they're helpful to you, please help them out if you can ... because it's not awesome right now.

In the meantime, thank you all so much. It definitely means a lot. As always, I'll continue to keep my head down and keep working on this place, primarily because - as I've mentioned - it also helps clear my head from the day-to-day. But the relationships I've made with so many of you over the years has both kept me motivated and helped get me through some times where things have been difficult. The PMs many of you send throughout the year, whether you're just checking in, inquiring about something, etc. are always appreciated.

And as I told someone who recently messaged me, if you spot something that isn't working or have any suggestions, please send them. Always assume I don't know or that I've made an error - because that's probably a correct assumption.

MG, you can set up two factor authentication, and use only a credit card, through PayPal.
And you are well protected against anything that might happen, through both PayPal (which has a massive security staff, and insurance), and the bank, and the credit card bank.

And @mgteich, the login would only be for the first one (the annual), which is an auto-renewal, and you would only need the PayPal account for the sake of being able to cancel it (albeit, I can do it on my end if anyone ever needs me to - just message me). The others don't require that.

I'm going to be doing away with that one at some point because I know there are people who get hit with it, having forgotten about it. It ends up throwing things off, so both the monthly and that one will be going away. As helpful as those might be, I'd rather not have it create a challenge for anybody. So for now, for anyone else who does donate, please use the non-recurring one.

I've had PayPal since 2004 and never had a problem- thousands of transactions over the 21 years.

No issues with Venmo or Cashapp either. Not faulting you for being cautious, just providing further context. To each their own.

DaBruinz - thanks for starting this thread and providing helpful guidance to make donations
Ian - thank you for this site, your hard work and dedication. I appreciate you. In terms of the donations page, is it possible to add a tab that says "donate any amount you like"? Apologies if this has already been addressed. Thanks again.

Been on this site since '04, over the years the moderation and format has consistently gotten better. $18.00 per year for a quality, informative and well moderated message board is a bargain..
If you check out other sports message boards they all pale in comparison to Pats Fans.com.....
