DRAFT Welcome to New England, Georgia C Jared Wilson

Will Campbell / Cole Strange / Garrett Bradbury / Michael Onwenu / Morgan Moses

With Jared Wilson ready to step in for either LG or C.

This is great on paper, honestly. If this line still ends up being below average, I don't think you can blame Wolf and Vrabel on this.

By far the best center prospect according to scouts. He’s another elite athlete—even by NFL standards. Notice the trend of Patriot selections?

NFL.com says he lacks bulk and will need guard help for monster sized NT.

But at 6’3” 310 he’s Lou Ferrigno compared to Garrett Bradbury, who’s an inch shorter and nearly fifteen pounds lighter.

From all appearances looks like a good pick, my only issue is why trade back when this team has so many gaps/needs??
But if they go after Sawyer or another high value defensive pick, then my skepticism in this process will be alleviated.
Interestingly the Sports Scribes on the Globe all graded him as either a A or A+...

You answered your question. You trade back when there are multiple needs on the roster and need more picks to fill them.

Have always been influenced by the belief the higher the draft pick the better the player.. for example when they traded back from 77 there were a lot of quality D players available and they chose to trade down 2x.
I am not doubting what they are doing, but their method is different than expected.
Things will be clearer later this afternoon.. so far like what they are doing.

Yep. Gotta also factor in THEIR board and stack-rankings. What we see as "best available" on Walter Football does not necessarily reflect Vrabel's.

They entered this draft with very few players that project to be starting here by the end of the rookie deals these guys will all sign. I think positions like center that are considered “lower value” are good places for them to look yesterday and today because starter level talent falls down the board some since teams gamble on more valuable positions instead. But for us, we need an infusion of depth chart topping caliber players across the board.

How about switching him to left guard next to Campbell. What kind of running lanes we could see... f Strange, your broken and just a backup i.m.o. Two rookie starters...Rhamondre must be like let's gooo....

dafuq... another sensible pick...
As a Pats fan I have to ask, what weird alchemy is this?
Love Vrabel so far...!

Wilson doesn’t really seem to be a mauler and actually needs to get stronger. Feels like this wouldn’t accomplish what you want it to.

Campbell / Lowe
Strange / Schweitzer / Sow
Bradbury / Wilson / JAndrews / Brown
Onwenu / Robinson
Moses / Wallace / Jacobs

I’m still not sure the starting line will be very good, but they’ve got pretty good competition set up for the backup spots with some guys that have intriguing talent.

Watching him real quick and......kind of looks like a day 1 starter. I can easily see him beating out guys like Robinson, Bradbury, and Strange.

Running lanes.....just a crease, that's all these backs want...the 2nd level
