Mayoclinic Thoughts

I may have. Sometimes hard to tell.

You are too kind.

I would LOVE any combination of a top player (Hunter, Carter, Walker, Warren, Graham, Jeanty) plus Simmons. Best-case scenario. I just don't see it happening, and I rate Simmons too highly to take the risk.

But if you can pull it off, I'd be ecstatic.

I don't buy the "blockbuster trade" rumors, but I do expect a lot of small trades as teams move around. Typically, teams will leapfrog someone for a player they have rated highly, and trade back when someone they wa t goes just before them.

FWIW, my 1st round mock - not predictive, but the general kind of thing I could see happening:

1. Tennessee. Cam Ward, QB.

2. Cleveland. Travis Hunter, WR/CB.

3. NY Giants. Abdul Carter, EDGE.

*** Trade: NE trades 4 to Las Vegas for 6 and a 2026 2nd round pick. Raiders leapfrog Jax for Jeanty.

4. Las Vegas. Ashton Jeanty, RB.

*** Trade: Jacksonville trades 5 and 140 to New Orleans for 9 and 40. Jags want a playmaker, move back with Jeanty gone.

5. New Orleans. Mason Graham, DT.

*** Trade: NE trades 6 and 105 to Carolina for 8 and 57. Pats tell Carolina they are taking Jalon Walker. Panthers offer a 3rd to move up, Pats hold out for 57 and sweeten the pot a bit.

6. Carolina. Jalon Walker, LB/EDGE.

7. NY Jets. Armand Membou, OL.

8. NE. Josh Simmons, OT. Most will have Will Campbell here, I'm sticking with Simmons.

9. Jacksonville. Tetairoa McMillen, WR.

*** Trade: Chicago trades 10 to Seattle for 18 and 52.

10. Seattle. Tyler Warren, TE.

11. San Francisco. Shemar Stewart, DE.

12. Dallas. Will Campbell, OL. If Pats take Campbell, Cowboys grab Josh Simmons.

13. Miami. Kelvin Banks, OL.

14. Indianapolis. Colston Loveland, TE.

*** Trade: Atlanta trades 15 Baltimore for 27 and . Ravens want a pass rusher.

15. Baltimore. Mike Green, EDGE.

16. Arizona. Will Johnson, CB.

17. Cincinnati. Malachi Starks, S.

18. Chicago. Omarion Hampton, RB.

19. Tampa Bay. Jihaad Campbell, LB.

20. Denver. Emeka Egbuka, WR.

*** Trade: Pittsburgh trades 21 to Buffalo for 30 and . Bills leapfrog GB for a top CB. Pittsburgh moves back for a QB - they are tempted by Derrick Harmon, but medicals a concern.

21. Buffalo. Jahdae Barron, CB.

22. San Diego. Kenneth Grant, DT.

23. Green Bay. Derrick Harmon, DT.

*** Trade: Minnesota trades 24 to KC for 31 and 95. Minny needs picks. KC has to protect Mahomes, leapfrogs Houston to grab last top-5 OT.

24. Kansas City. Josh Conerly, OT.

25. Houston. Grey Zabel, OL.

*** Trade: Los Angeles trades 26 to Philadelphia for 32 and 96. Rams are content to move back for a QB. Howie Roseman is always aggressive.

26. Walter Nolen, DT.

27. Atlanta. Mykel Williams, DE.

*** Trade. Detroit trades 28 to NY Giants for 34 and 99. Giants see a run on QBs, jump the line.

28. NY Giants. Shedeur Sanders, QB.

29. Washington. Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE.

30. Pittsburgh. Jaxson Dart, QB.

31. Minnesota. Nick Emmanwori, S.

32. Los Angeles. Jalen Milroe, QB.

I could see trading up for Walter Nolen in this scenario. But with 38, 57, 69 and 77 I'd like to see 4 starters, without reaching for need.

Some guys I'd love to see:

- Donovan Jackson, OL
- Elijah Arroyo, TE
- Oluwafemi Oladejo, EDGE
- Alfred Collins, DT
- Jaylin Noel, WR
- Savion Williams, WR

Maybe Treveyon Henderson.

My prediction for the top 10 is no trades will materialise. I think Mason Graham falls. Top 10 below.

Ward
Hunter
Carter
Campbell
Jeanty
Membou
Warren
Walker
Williams
Graham

Sign me up for all those except Williams. He has dodgy hands and is just too much of a project for my taste. Oladejo in the 3rd rather than at 38 though.

Have you and @BaconGrundleCandy got eyes on Que Robinson yet? I’d love to know your thoughts.

You and me both! I'm willing to be patient at TE but if Arroyo/Ferguson were to be there at 106 I'd be all over that.

Some bold predictions:

1. Ashton Jeanty will go in the top 5 picks, with his ceiling the Giants at #3 and his floor Jacksonville at #5.

2. There will be a run on offensive linemen between 4 and 18. At least 5 will go in that range, and possibly as many as 7 (Campbell, Membou, Simmons, Banks and Zabel, plus possibly Conerly and Booker).

I read this mock and find myself disappointed there was no mention of breakfast.

I will be surprised if the Bears and 49ers don’t take OTs

1. Jeanty went #6.

2. 5 OLs went from 4-18: Campbell (4), Membou (7), Banks (9), Booker (12) and Zabel (18). 3 more went 1st round: Jacksonville (24), Conerly (29) and Simmons (32), so 25% of 1st round picks were OL. I thought SF and Miami might go OL.

Elliot Wolf pre-draft: Last year we focused too much on need. This draft will be all about taking BPA.

Elliot Wolf draft day: We need to reach for a questionable LT at #4.

Mike Vrabel pre-draft: "You can't win with just a bunch of 'good' dudes."

Mike Vrabel draft day: "Will Campbell is such a good dude!"

I would trade up for Mike Green in the 2nd round. Highest graded player on my board by a Longshot - like Cooper De Jean a year ago.

I would have a similar grade on Will Johnson but the chronic injury report is clearly scaring teams, plus EDGE us a bigger need.

Then I'd go after WR/TE, and a developmental OT.

My Father used to say, "Get over it."

Day 2, I'm with Bakes let's go get Mike Green.

I'm not crying about Will Campbell. Great kid, great leadership ability. I hope he succeeds.

But I said pre-draft that I had doubts about him at LT, and that he would be a terrible reach at #4, and I will say the same thing post-draft.

Campbell has a lot to like - good size and strength, good technique, excellent footwork, good intelligence and work ethic, tons of experience. He's not a JAG. But he also has an upright stance, narrow base, and terrible length. He wins at the college level by using his feet to stay in front of his man and then using his strength and technique to dominate. But get him off balance and his limitations are exposed.

Mike Vrabel telling stories of how he did reps with Campbell and Campbell threw him to the ground is about as relevant as Kyle Bollar throwing the football through the uprights while on his knees.

I worry Campbell will be Robert Gallery II. But I hope he proves me wrong, and will be happy to eat humble pie if/when he does.

There is just no way they take Mike Green given the allegations against him and everything Vrabel has said about wanting to reset the culture.

Vrabel said there wasn’t a trade down on offer at 4. They obviously painted themselves into a corner at OT by not addressing on free agency, but Campbell is a fine enough pick given the context of the draft. Simmons went 32 so taking him at 4 would have been a massive reach.

Didn't say you were. Frustration leads to distraction. Moving on.

To draft Mike Green teams had to believe:

1. Allegations of sexual assault in both high school and college plus suspension from his first college team just amount to a run of extraordinary bad luck and represent no future character risk;

2. The player is valuable enough to be worth turning all the fan and media excitement over your draft into a firestorm over issue 1, plus the possibility that future unflattering details come out that will put pressure on you to cut him.

Not surprising nobody bit in round one, but the deeper we go into the draft the more the scales will tip.

Even without Green, there’s a lot of tempting talent on the board at edge, we, db, te and rb. I expect watching targets vanish in round 2 is going to be more painful than round 1.
