Deone Walker is a bit rolly polly. Has weight issues. But he's a pretty big dude for stuffing the run if he can maintain his strength and conditioning.

The one encouraging note is he slimmed down to 331 for the combine
So it looks like he CAN control the weight when he wants to.
He also measured out at an impressive 6'7 with 34.25" arms and 10 5/8" hands.

He put up 37 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2024, which is down from the year before when he put up career highs of 55 tackles and 7.5 sacks.
So the ability is there, but is the motor and consistency and desire there to become a great tackle?
It's going to be gamble on his physical attributes and his ability to keep that weight under control with Walker.

Nice thing is that when he's on, this massive DL just about blocks out the sun, eats up double teams, and can pressure the pocket.

All that being said, can I sell you on a speed demon?

Bayshul Tuten was the fastest RB at the Combine, blazing a 4.32 40.

His speed turns up on tape too. Dude simply runs away from people. He shows off another gear.

At 5'9 206 lbs, he's got solid size even though his explosive speed is his greatest strength.

A thunder-lightning combo of Stevenson-Tuten could help relieve the pressure on Drake Maye and put more emphasis on production in the running game.

So those are my two nominations DT Deone Walker or RB Bayshul Tuten.

Speed demon or space eater, your choice, voters!

Walker for sure. His game is more upfield than taking on blocks, so he fits. Being that massive can still help clog lanes. It's totally understandable that he had a down year once it was revealed he had a fracture in his back all year. The upside is well worth the risk on day 3 assuming medicals are clean.

Kyle Williams
Jaydon Blue
Kevin Winston Jr

Kyle Williams - He along with Royals finally provides real speed on this offense.

Blue is in line with the Pats looking at fast pass catching backs

Kevin Winston is a 1st round talent available in the 4th. Best tackler in the draft.

I really like Kyle Kennard as an option at 77, but man, Que Robinson would have been nice in this spot.

Winston, take 'em. Not a FS but very good in coverage

Do it. Do it now. Now. Now.

I was tempted to put him 1st based upon BPA but admittedly I was driven by need (or at least roster value).

TE Gunnar Helm
C Jake Majors
and with the pick, the Pats select Kevin Winston, S, Penn State.

Ozzy Trapilo T BC
Charles Grant T Williams & Mary
Jonah Monheim C USC

I love Blue, thought he was the better of the two Texas backs. I have seen full mocks where he's going to be available as an UDFA. That seems crazy to me. I think if he's there at #144 he's a no brainer.

I don't love him as a franchise back, there are better backs at running between the tackles but as a receiver and as a change of pace back with electric speed, he'd be an excellent addition to the RB room. However, as I was writing this, I checked his fumbles for this past season and he had 6. Not so good.

I like him late, not in R4. I think he's a James White / Kevin Faulk type.
