Stefon Diggs visiting Patriots

I saw a mock recently that suggested Pats get 11, 43 and Aiyuk for pick 4. At first I was like Nah, but the more I think about it the I think its a good-ish idea. If we sign Diggs and Have Aiyuk, our WR is pretty much solved for this year. We will also pick up an extra 2nd, so while I am not a big fan of Aiyuk he would elevate the WR room along with Diggs.

So in the draft we would have 11, 38, 43, 69 and 77 in the top 3 rounds. We would really have 1 dire need at LT, so essentially we could double dip at OT and still have 3 picks to with what they wish or allow them the ammo to move around the board and hopefully get who the covet the most.

With SF retooling/rebuilding however you look at it, they could be willing to jump at the trade even though it would be trading Aiyuk for the equivalent of a 4th.

Thoughts on this??

The biggest meltdown will be on the sidelines if he signs and feels he’s not getting targeted enough
I think the sideline meltdown is over blown. Are we going to condemn Brady for his sideline tantrums?

Sometimes Ultra competitive players emotions spill out.

Are Campbell or Warren still going to be there at 11?

I’ve been seeing Campbell getting mocked to the Bears at 10 and Warren to the Colts at 14. If the plan is to get Campbell then they can’t afford to move too far down. I doubt they plan to draft a TE high, if at all, this year. Henry as the starter is an over $11 million cap hit and they just re-signed Hooper for $5 million coming off a solid year for a backup (ranked 25th among NFL TE’s in receptions and 24th in receiving yards). That’s better than some other teams’ starters. Those are your two leading TE’s for the team in 2025. Maybe they address TE again next year when they have an out with Henry and when Hooper is a free agent again.

Another take or it leave it low ball offer would be what he'd get anyway, Patriots still operating like it's a WRs privilege to come and play for them.

Someone needs to inform them that the offense has been basically unwatchable for 5 years and Josh McDaniels isn't going to turn JAG WRs into a functional offense it was Tom Brady who did that for him.

I know it. ****ing Belichick, still can’t get out of his own way when it comes to WR. It sucks, I’m so tired of it. And Patricia as offensive coordinator again???? Why lord, why? What have we done to deserve this? And the only change to the coaching staff was the addition of Olivia Dunne, who was only hired to help train Belichick and his 16 year d girlfriend with their Beach Cheering moves in advance of the Massachusett’s State Beach Cheering Finals this Saturday at Patriot Place.

I like that trade alot but im guessing sf would only do that if hunter or carter is there, in which case i dont think i would do it over drafting hunter. If its for carter at 4, yeah probably. If both are gone i don’t see who sf would wanna trade up that badly for unless theyre moving on from purdy too and want sanders.

Aiyuk could probably be had for a 4th based on the reports / trade projections, last one i heard is we send a 3rd but get a pick back with aiyuk. Id rather just do that straight up.

Remember when people thought NE's offense was just fine after they traded Moss in 2010? That came back to bite them in the ass in the divisional round. The lack of outside WR haunted them in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Felger thought that and his constant complaining about Moss when he was here may have contributed to his exit. I will never fogive Felger for this.

Moss "took the top off the defense"; defenses had to keep a safety deep which opened up the short game and the run game. When Moss left, the Patriots offense was exposed as fraudulent and it has been ever since.

Harry has a future flipping burgers. What a terrible waste of a 1st round pick!
Worse than that, much worse. Harry was the final straw that caused Brady to leave and go to a team with some good WRs. That started the slide which eventually led to the loss of GOAT coach and a basement-dwelling team that no one wants to play for.

Harry was the the worst draft pick in the history of the Patriots. Much worse than Ken Sims of the other flops.

Not sure the legitimacy of the poster

Edit: I don’t see this any place else
He may be throwing crap against the wall

i dunno man, the "parody account" label on the account says Legit to me... ymmv

...

This is a tough one on the surface, but in all reality, its not... The Pats should sign him...

Diggs is a legitimate receiver who has been productive in Minnesota, Buffalo, and Houston... If the Pats do move forward with this signing, it really should be a two year deal... myself, I would add a third year... the third being a "fake" contract year with a big number (bumps up the aav, stroking the players ego a bit)... a nice unguaranteed chunk of salary... if Diggs is productive, you convert the salary to bonus money... the conversion to guaranteed money should* make Diggs happy... I just think back to how it fell apart with Moss... That easily could have been avoided, if BB wasn't being such a miserly, penny pinching asshat with those negotiations...

The injury does cause concern given when it happened... not that it happened, but when it happened... Most likely Diggs will not be ready for camp... and we all know the anecdotal evidence says it takes a full year to return to productivity... so year 1 might be a wash... eh, don't care, because year 2 will make you forget year 1...

if it doesn't work out & you have to eat some money, so be it... its the cost of doing business... the upside is just too strong to pass on him.

* - a coulda, shoulda, woulda scenario? you can never say, with 100% certainty, "that will work" a few years down the road especially with the NFL's diva skill position...

Literally no one thinks that
Well you have people who want to pass on every single top WR because they are divas and then not draft one in the first round and are currently creating any narrative such as Tet is N’Keal Harry in order to support not going after a WR so that tells me more people are satisfied with making tweaks and not getting a true game breaker than you might believe.

I’d take Diggs for just money and no pick vs Aiyuk for money AND a pick. Plus Aiyuk GOT money last year then acted like an ass 15 min later.

He might he a WORSE cancer than Diggs. Pass.
UGA you are one of my favorite WR evaluators: very sad you don't like Aiyuk.

I don’t think I’ve seen this much sand in vajayjays without going to the beach.

At least with Diggs you are getting an known commodity. It will be a long time, maybe never, until we can trust the Patriots to draft a WR. It has been one disaster after another.. You would think with the new regime, they would have improved, but look at the Slo' Poke instead of McConkey disaster:

We all knew how this was going to end with Diggs.
