Off the top of my head, Duke Lacrosse, Central Park 5, West Memphis 3 and Rubin Hurricane Carter..

I am not arguing it doesn't happen, as I previously posted. But there's a far cry between it having instances of happening and saying "all you have to do is say something and people believe it immediately", or to the verbatim of what I recently quoted "This day and age all it takes is for it to get on social media and whoever is ****ed."

And in relation to the previous posts, there is a far cry difference here between Tucker and those cases. I'm not even saying Tucker did it! But the knee jerk reaction many of us have to think that someone is trying to get a paycheck is silly and unwarranted. Just let the **** play out. My point in those posts was in response to someone asking why these allegations are coming out later, offering the counterpoint of countless documented cases of retaliatory punishment after lodged accusations.

I think the more we default to assuming the worst, the less any discussion can actually evolve around these topics. If we just pit our beliefs in paranoid-based reasoning, welp, everything looks like a nail to a hammer. Or whatever that saying is.

i hope he gets cancelled.. so that baltimore is forced to cut him

that way we can sign him
He'll probably be cut anyway just becuase of the optics.. these guys kill me.. got all the money and resources in the world.. man just go to a spa that will give u want u seek man...

If Instagram models will fly to Dubai to get pooped on by sheiks, I'm sure they'd stay here and give a pro football player a rub and tug. Don't get it.
Ahhh to be a sheik!!

Or pay more for a top shelf escort. If you're going to massage spas, it's because you're cheap lol.

I can't wait to find out what crimes Butker has committed. I'm sure it's a list longer than my arm.
Rumors from people he went to college with that he is gay.

Exactly correct.. lol.. just have her come to your room like the smart NFL, NBA guys do.. Shaq said he had one in every NBA city..

I think it's more common than you think. The Chiefs punter Matt Ariaza was the victim of a false accusation which caused the Bills to drop him. In an age of #believeallwomen and #metoo you are guilty until proven innocent and the presumption of innocent until proven guilty is lost. The cancel culture lumps in the innocent with the guilty. When there are enough victims as in this case and Watson, there is likely fire with the smoke so I am not defending him but in a "he said, she said" case, often the guy loses and careers/lives/relationships are destroyed.

man just go to a spa that will give u want u seek man...
and risk getting bobkraft'ed? Can always pay off a civil suit, might not be so lucky as RKK if you get caught up in a dragnet like he was... and make no mistake, Kraft was lucky the way that particular escapade played out...

i think its more about the power & control than it is anything else... could be wrong, but i don't think so

but who's to say that the allegations are true, and that its just not a play for money... its not like we haven't seen that before...

Agreed. I was just eluding to going to a spot or having them come to you.. there are plenty of places he could go that partake.. if u will. rk was wrong place wrong time as it was a sting going on at that time.. every guy loves a happy ending but it's a way you go about it.. as you perfectly said who knows if it's just not a money grab..

Rumors from people he went to college with that he is gay.

That would be chef's kiss.

Ironically, the only people that would accept him and stand up for him would be the ones he's been actively insulting. The only people that would see being gay as bad are the ones he's been sucking up to.

Self loathing is always a sad thing to see.

And he was cleared of said charges and is now on the best team in the league and people will probably not even think about it anymore. His life was not destroyed. Leave it to the Bills to muff a situation.

I'm aware this happens. It does not happen as much as we're led to believe. And this idea of "cancel culture" is a ghost we're all led to chase that, in reality, is not a prevalent as we'd think. There are thousands up on thousands of professional athletes; one false accusation every handful of years does not speak to a real trend. That is an anomaly.

Survey: Over 20 Million Have Been Falsely Accused of Abuse

>>>WASHINGTON / December 17, 2020 – A recent national survey conducted by YouGov reveals 8% of Americans report being falsely accused of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, or other forms of abuse. The 2,407 survey respondents were representative of the U.S. adult population. The 8% figure represents 20.4 million adults.<<<<<

On the topic of accusations that turned out to be false, the victim in the Richie Incognito bullying story has recanted his claims. It only took 12 years for that to get cleared up. I had forgotten that the league hired Ted Wells in that case to find the results they wanted.

Only 2 of those are even remotely close to this tbh. The West Memphis 3 and Rubin Carter situations are about murders that actually happened and the police fingering the wrong suspects and trying to make a square fit into a circle.

Likewise the Central Park 5 case was a rape case, but it was also not a false rape case. The victim was found tied up and beaten and was confirmed rape. She also had severe brain damage from the attack. The police again profiled the suspects and then tried to do everything to make them fit a guilty verdict.

In fact in all 3 of those, you could straight up say the victims didn't lie and either were dead or so messed up from an attack that they couldn't give a reliable testimony and that was more police misconduct.

Duke Lacrosse is kinda comparable. But a huge difference is that it was exactly one woman accusing the players and it was a total he said vs she said situation. It wasn't double digit allegations from many women with receipts and records of complaints and many parlors saying he was banned from going there for years and easy to go back years and find mentions of this.

I can buy one trashy person looking for a payday. I have much harder time buying that 16 people are making false allegations and played the long game and had the people running their place of business corroborating complaints and having emails etc.

Let's go a step further, how common is it for professional athletes to have dozens of massage therapists? These are guys who want top end best in the world for everything and will pay their barbers to fly across country for them. Brady had Guerrero coming to his home and flying with him everywhere. I've seen amateur athletes say they'll find someone that they trust that works well and only go to them.

The only two I've ever really heard of just one and doning dozens of message therapists are Watson and Tucker and it's because they were going places, acting like creeps, and then knowing they probably shouldn't push it and go dark.

And he was cleared of said charges and is now on the best team in the league and people will probably not even think about it anymore. His life was not destroyed. Leave it to the Bills to muff a situation.
He was an innocent man and he lost 2 years of his career due to false allegations. 2 years is a huge amount of time in the NFL. That's hundreds of thousands of dollars he'll never recover.

Shame on you for downplaying what he went through.

Stop trying to simplify this in some silly ass moral argument. His life is NOT destroyed. Get a grip.

So, before my response, I just wanna say: I do appreciate you at least bringing something to the table to chew on and in a non-moralized way. I appreciate that.

I took a look at the study and it presents the findings in a pretty weird way, the question was simply "have you been falsely accused of abuse" which... Is an interesting way to outright determine who has been falsely accused...

Then I looked into the CPI group that wrote the press release and... Kinda a weird group lol.

My main point is they give you a figure and run with it, not examining a more macro-view of everything:

The National Registry of Exoneration, which keeps track of how many innocent people have been exonerated, found that since 1989 in the US 52 people have been exonerated for sexual assault that they didn't do. People exonerated on false accusations of Murder was 790 people.

And that's just one out of 20+ studies and papers referenced in this post:

There is a trove of info there, all with linked references from FBI, colleges, state institutions, etc.

They have a Tl;Dr section at the end for the finer points.
