Not saying they won’t be back but now it’s going to be interesting. Will be the next Patriots or the next Steelers/Cowboys dynasties and win 3-4 and then fade? I still think Mahomes will win a 4th eventually though
I mean, I'd agree with that, and that's where a ''''legendary'''' playcaller should be able to prepare the team and scheme around it.I think what happened was the Chiefs were good but just not Super Bowl good. Offensively they weren’t great and the Eagles had a really good defense. I wouldn’t say they got exposed but I’d go as far to say that they just had legitimately almost no chance to win last night.
I also noticed really bad body language from Patrick Mahomes and Kelce. I will die on the hill that Kelce wanted to propose last night and knew after that he couldn’t.I mean, I'd agree with that, and that's where a ''''legendary'''' playcaller should be able to prepare the team and scheme around it.
Or when your defense is on the field the entire first quarter (I think it was like 12 minutes to 3), run the ball just to give your guys a rest, you can't get it all back at once.
No max protections, no playaction (because you didn't run the ball), no adjustments whatsoever. They did the exact same thing from the start of the game to the end.
ChiRefs DC was so worried about Barkley he left his secondary exposed... By the time adjustments were made, the game was already out of hand...
The Eagles also have a very good OLI don't really think the game last night really "goes to show the importance of having a strong OL" like so many have said.
On Philly's side - sure, they have a strong OL but that's not all they had. They also had TWO WR1s, one of the best RBs in the league, and a dynamic dual-threat QB. The Chiefs were also playing to stop the run, because the RB was so good, which opened up big plays in the pass game. This doesn't really require a strong OL.
On KC's side - they had a weak OL and got decimated by Philly's DL. But does this mean they needed a strong OL? Would a strong OL have just easily held up against that Philly front, or would they have still taken some lumps?
In my opinion, my takeaway from this game is that the winning recipe is at least a solid OL, a couple good offensive weapons, and a strong pass rush.
Hurts stood back there forever, he could have set up a grill and cooked up some steaks. Receivers are the last thing that has to go right for a successful pass to work. You can find skilled weapons in all rounds of the draft, big powerful linemen not so much. Those receivers the eagles have made catches the patriots trailer trash WRs could only dream of making.
Football is won with skilled weapons as well
This ^The Eagles also have a very good OL
To be fair, AJ Brown and DeVonta aren’t talents you’d be able to poach from the UFL. They are special WRs but 100% on the OLine take.Hurts stood back there forever, he could have set up a grill and cooked up some steaks. I disagree as I think the NBA is the easiest to turn around, if ( and a big if) you get a star. The Celtics w Bird ( pre Parish and McHale) went from 29 wins to 60 and other teams made the jump. It is easier when there are only 5 guys to play rather than 9 or 11....There's an anomaly for everything. I wouldn't count on that happening a whole lot in the NBA especially.
The only adjustments that worked for the chefs was the Eagles D going into prevent.
I agree, find or trade for those guys or use high round draft capital on them last.To be fair, AJ Brown and DeVonta aren’t talents you’d be able to poach from the UFL. They are special WRs but 100% on the OLine take.
No max protections, no playaction. Almost no motion, for that matter. There were a lot of games where Gronk would primarily be used as a blocker on passing plays. Kelce never does. It was a huge mistake by the Chiefs to not use a blocking TE or even a sixth lineman to help give Mahomes some time and to help with the running game.
Looks pretty healthy especially with basically no guarantees on Kelce's salary. With the expected 10-20M cap jump, they look like they can easily get to 50M cap. Not good for us since LT is a top priority for them. And they might like adding Higgins too. Really not good for us.Just looked up the Queefs cap table and they don't have a lot of room to do things in FA next year.
Without any restructures/cuts they are at $11m under the cap. They'll obviously be making some moves.
Kelce seems like a restructure/cut/retirement
Thuney might be a restructure.
Mahomes might re-do his deal
I'm sure they'll restructure or cut other players.

They desperately need to improve that secondary, and really a pass rusher too, Karlaftis is a pretty one-note player right now.Looks pretty healthy especially with basically no guarantees on Kelce's salary. The rap on him in Philly was that pre game and scripted plays were great but he was poor when it came to in game adjustments....No max protections, no playaction. Almost no motion, for that matter.
Just a horrific coaching job by Andy Reid.
