Philly only rushed 4 the whole game and still got to Mahomes for 11 QB hits.

Granted, the KC OL is a mess. Thuney got schooled at LT and moving him there just weakened the interior of the KC OL.

This game goes to show the importance of the OL. The patriots will not be able to do anything without a solid OL and to expect them to be successful with the talent they currently have is madness.

There was a modicum of justice last night. The media has to suck on it and Mahomes ineptitude last night should cement Tom Brady's place at the head of the NFL table for a generation. Tom Brady never got blown out and now Mahomes has been blown out twice.
I really hope last night sends Kansas City into a tailspin. I was convinced there was no way Philadelphia could be KC and the refs. Congrats to Philadelphia, job well done.

I don't really think the game last night really "goes to show the importance of having a strong OL" like so many have said.

On Philly's side - sure, they have a strong OL but that's not all they had. They also had TWO WR1s, one of the best RBs in the league, and a dynamic dual-threat QB. The Chiefs were also playing to stop the run, because the RB was so good, which opened up big plays in the pass game. This doesn't really require a strong OL.

On KC's side - they had a weak OL and got decimated by Philly's DL. But does this mean they needed a strong OL? Would a strong OL have just easily held up against that Philly front, or would they have still taken some lumps?

In my opinion, my takeaway from this game is that the winning recipe is at least a solid OL, a couple good offensive weapons, and a strong pass rush.

They did the same thing with Rodgers.. remember when he was the "GOAT" and the media/nfl fans wanted to prematurely anoint him? That of course was after years of trying and failing to prop up Manning as the GOAT

Which is another great point in Mahomes disfavor….who pushes him? Who is his rival? The whole NFL seems generally mediocre which is what ultimately allowed a steamrolling like last night. If Mahomes was in an era of amazing QBs at their peaks like Brady was (not one but several!) then you could make an argument for greatness. As of now, his benchmark was playing in the era of Brady, and losing.

The truth is, even if they did the stupid three-peat I would still not put Mahomes in the conversation. The era is too different and he’s treated like a porcelain doll. In Brady’s early years someone like Mahomes would be out of the league already after burning bright and getting injured. And it’s fine the NFL is trying to protect their assets but to me it comes with a price. And that price is you don’t get to compare your career one to one with greats like Brady who had to play in the era of getting your head knocked off repeatedly and without 15 yards to compensate. It’s just been easier to be Mahomes. And that’s the end of it.

That loss had to be as devastating for the Chef’s and their fans as the 18-1 loss to the Giants was for the Patriots and us. Just as the Patriots never got another shot at an undefeated season the Chefs will never get another shot at a 3peat.

This isn't true

The Patriots have a shot going undefeated every year. In fact they have one coming this fall.

The Chiefs will never have another chance at a three-peat. Not for 3 more years anyway.

Yep. Media and fans actually forced the NFL's hand. Commish and the league came out twice during the week crying and lying that they don't favor the Chiefs.

They pushed the limits in that Buffalo game and now they're desperate to sweep this whole storyline under the rug. They had to call this one fair or the blowback would have been too much. And the result was damning.

Just looked up the Queefs cap table and they don't have a lot of room to do things in FA next year.

Without any restructures/cuts they are at $11m under the cap. They'll obviously be making some moves.

Kelce seems like a restructure/cut/retirement

Thuney might be a restructure.

Mahomes might re-do his deal

I was asking before the game whether theyll move thuney back inside to deal with the 2 monsters and just take their chances with whoever at LT. Dunno if it would have made any difference, this was a really bad matchup for kc.

Jalen carter falling to their range in that 23 draft because of a pre draft incident was an insane break for philly. I would love if we follow the plan many of us want with carter or graham at 4 and another good dl falls to 38, pretty good chances as they say its a very deep draft at dl

We all thoroughly overreacted to the Chiefs’ midseason reinforcements. DJ Humphries got hurt in his first game, only played in the meaningless weak 18 game after that, and sat on the sideline the entire Super Bowl despite the Thuney/Caliendo pairing obviously not working at all. Uche was a healthy scratch for the last six games excluding the meaningless week 18 game. Hopkins was their #4 WR once Brown returned, getting his first catch at 27-0 and only 29 yards in three playoff games combined.

Team wasn't ready to play, playcalling was atrocious (nothing but deep routes, even after you knew your team couldn't block), and 7 called rushes for the game. 4 in the first half. No wonder Philadelphia got pressure with just 4, they were just pinning their ears back and rushing against an overwhelmed offensive line.

Never let it be forgotten, this is who Andy Reid is. Mahomes said he has to not revert to heroball, but Andy Reid went to Hero Playcalling. There's only so much blame Mahomes should take for that. And again, he was bad, but Reid can't get a pass for this one.

Yep, make no mistake when the game was close the refs did try to tilt the game in kc’s favor on 2 huge bogus calls. And we’ll never know what they would have done had the game been close, philly made it impossible for the refs to affect the outcome. Until i see a 50/50 call screw the refs in a key moment ill be skeptical

I think what happened was the Chiefs were good but just not Super Bowl good. Offensively they weren’t great and the Eagles had a really good defense. I wouldn’t say they got exposed but I’d go as far to say that they just had legitimately almost no chance to win last night.
