2025 Draft: EDGE

Teddy Beer was my last binky to be drafted by the Pats. I try not to get binkies every year, but I do and they tend to be lower level guys so I don't get too disappointed.

Edit: I do have a higher level binky and its Jihaad Campbell.

For me a binky tends to be a late rounder that I've 'discovered' and whose tape I keep going back to because I enjoy watching them and to try to understand why they're so underrated. So far this year the following are on the binky list:

LeQuint Allen
Bradyn Swinson
Kyle Williams

Efton Chism III is borderline dependent on the combine.

Great find, team. I'm on the Roberts bandwagon now for sure. Love players with physicality against the run. He looks like he'll be a solid tester, too. I'm not expecting elite numbers, but above average, which may suggest he's got more pass rush potential with good coaching and practice.

I'm amazed at how high Carter is rated still, given so many other good players who aren't undersized tweeners.

That just tells me how good Carter is. Sadly I'm leaning towards giving up on that dream now that the Browns might be trading Garrett. I'm leaning towards Roberts as strong side DE and Josaiah Stewart as situational pass rusher with Keion White a early down DE too.

Is he invited?

Elijah Roberts, SMU - 22.6%

Had 60 hurries, hits, sacks which is only 6 less than Abdul Carter and more than Princely or James Pearce.

Also, he's 290lbs and has 34" arms. Excellent option for LDE.
Scourton and Stewart are big like that too.

Just going to keep beating a dead horse when it comes to the depth at this position

Kyle Kennard

first couple of clips are against alligator arms from LSU

We need Talent EVERYWHERE, and on Both sides of the LOS.

What good is Carter when we can't stop the run or, worse, can't protect the QB long enough to score enough points to have a lead in the first place when we can most use his talents?

Where's our #1 AND #2 WRs coming from? Our 3rd-Down RB? Our 0/1-Tech DT? Our TWO Pass-Rushing DEs? Our #2 Outside CB? Our starting Free Safety?

I don't believe for even One Second that All of those needs can be filled through this FO's free agency attempts And the draft picks it currently holds. Therefore, the last best chance it will have to fill them is with the #4 overall pick and the value it can generate as a trade chip.

The point isn't that you'll hit every need in FA, but also other parts of the draft. With the amount of money, it is possible to find your LT, WR 1 and 2, a CB2, and DL. Even further than that with the amount of money.

Then you have 4, but 3 day 2 picks. A 3rd down RB, especially in this class, could be had on day 3.

Just throwing it out there but if you sign Stanley(or Robinson or Jackson), Higgins, Slayton, Onwuzurike, and Carlton Davis, you've locked down major needs. And still have money to play with.

Then adding Carter to that, and you have 3 picks on day 2 to hit RT then BPA at spots like DL, S, TE or even OG. 3rd down RB in the 4th.

This team needs depth and difference makers. I'm all in favor of trading down for the right package. But it better be damn good of you're passing on selecting Carter.

I have seen a few mocks with us trading down and taking Jalon Walker in the 1st as an edge. He does not seem to have any pass rush moves and reminds me a ton of uche with the duck under move. I want none of that

I don't think he's only an EDGE, at least not yet. Walker is more of an athlete than a footballer for now. But what an athlete! He needs to develop his pass rush arsenal and his coverage skills and it may take a couple of years to maximise who he is but in the meantime you get a, supposedly, very high character player who will be an excellent speed sub-rusher, a terrific blitzer and a super athletic spy at the LB spot. You'll need a plan for him on defense, one that involves him attacking downhill, while he develops his skills.

There is a lowish floor there, but the ceiling is sky high and as I mentioned in the linebacker thread, people who know have him graded very highly.

From Daniel Jeremiah:

Overall, Walker is a tone-setter on defense and UGA coaches rave about his makeup and leadership.

You're right that he is a great athlete and he is only 20 years old. We do have 2 coaches now that have been pass rush specialists for different teams. I think this team needs to draft for high floor and less super high ceiling. the high floor players will be an upgrade to our current roster and we can not take the chance that a high potential flyer crashes.

I agree and whilst Walker probably ends up in my personal top 10, I'd take Graham, Campbell and Tet over him. After that he'd be in a debate between Green, Loveland and Warren. If we drafted him with our first pick I'd be trepidatious, but also more than a little bit excited by what can be done with him.

Interesting comp for Walker - Jamie Collins
