It's impossible to feel bad for Watson or for scummy Browns owner Jimmy Haslam who presided over and initially profited from the Flying J scamaramma.
Browns fans though, they've gotten the very brown end of the stick and at the very least the football Gods owe them a break or two. They lost their team when that dbag Model took the money and ran to Baltimore only to watch that team win a Super Bowl for their new city a few years later. They at least got a moment of hope and a 'new' franchise under the ownership of well liked and highly respected philanthropist Al Lerner. Unfortunately golden touched Al Lerner died a couple of years later and the team landed in the lap of his hapless jackass son Randy who managed to not just run the Browns but also FC Villa into the ground. He ended his ham handed ownership of both once proud teams by not only turning them into laughingstocks but selling them to even worse owners. At least he lost some of his inherited wealth on the Villa deal.
There's no need to go into the litany of indignities Browns fans have suffered at the hands of Haslam, suffice to say the team has lurched from one biblical level disaster to another since he got his greedy incompetent hands on them. Teams can fire front office people, they can dump coaches, players and even cities but their fans can't fire owners. Not only are owners immune from their errors, they're guaranteed a profit no matter how egregious their fails.
So F Watson and Haslam but as fans of a team that survived the incompetence of the Sullivans, the scumminess of Kiam and the attempted carpetbagging of Orthwein let's have some room in our hearts for the poor Browns fans. Their Factory of Sadness continues to produce without any end in sight.
