It's been nearly three years since Jon Gruden's NFL coaching career ended, abruptly and unceremoniously after the systemic and selective release of items from the 650,000 document trove harvested during the investigation of the Washington franchise.www.nbcsports.com
“Yeah, I’m interested in coaching,” Gruden told CBSSports.com. “My dad was a college coach, I was a college coach at Pitt, my wife was a cheerleader at Tennessee when I met her. Hell yeah, I’m interested in coaching. I know I can help a team, I know I can help young players get better, and I know I can hire a good staff, and that’s the only thing I can guarantee. But yeah, I’m very interested in coaching at any level, period.”
You ever think just maybe they didn’t show up on purpose for just that reason.
Buffalo might have thought they’d still win. As they did.No, because that's just idiotic for a team still trying to clinch the best possible seed in the playoffs.
He needs better coaching.Yeah, this might be true. People gave their hopes on the rookie QB. But this is several games in a row where he’s played not so great. Two games and the second half if the Bills game.
And today he almost got hurt, especially that Derwin James sack that easily could have rolled an ankle really bad.
Baker got his first Target in week 16 progress I tell you.Polk and baker can reach potential by catching a single pass.
I know why he was fired. Just saying he might be a good coach to improve the team, based on his knowledge of the game, intensity and experience.. I know it is almost a certainty Kraft would not hire him.Yeah, Gruden is NOT going to be hired by the Krafts. Maybe review why Gruden is not now coaching. Hint: he won't pass the RK woke test.
The poster who said they wanted to keep Jerod in the East may not of been wrong.
The Patriots have been among the worst in separation for WR's and TE's since 2019, so this is nothing new. What bothers me is that this is a league where the rule changes have allowed medicore QB's and skill players to put up points. Not to mention the league wide talent continues to get worse each season. But even with the lack of talent they have on offense, they still should be able to find a way to put up more points than they have.
This team is so bad, they think Mac Jones had a good cast surrounding him. He didn't, but even he was able to move the ball until last season. I see the flashes of what Maye can do, but he needs to put it together and be able to move the ball more consistently. The theme all season has been he either scores early and then is shut out, or is held down most of the game until garbage time where he pads his stats. I understand it's a touchy subject to criticize Maye because the chance of him being mediocre is going set the franchise back for years. The only way to get the most out of him is to clean house fast and match him up with a creative offensive coach. Mayo needs to go like tomorrow.
We are the modern day Browns.A dysfunctional franchise would change both coordinators and a few scouts and bring in some experienced former head coach in some kind of "mentor role" and sell the fans it will be different only to ruin the QB and have to fire everyone anyway within a year or two.
That's when you know you've turned into the Browns.
Meanwhile Maye is able to talk about the rush on it, or about how he might’ve had Boutte on a crosser when he got his bell rung. It’s like Mayo isn’t watching with any intensity.Mayo’s presser didn’t contain any “gaffes” but it wasn’t great either. Kind of a Belichickian one where he mostly just shut up and didn’t really say anything. But also didn’t seem to know what he was talking about either. One reporter asked him what went wrong/what the design was for the fumbled pitch play, he said “I would have to go watch the film.” Why do you need to watch the film? Don’t you know what play was called?
Did he fumble?Stevenson with 2 carries and 1 yard
Lol what?
Yep. That is exactly what happened with Tim Couch and David Carr. It can also happen to Maye.I said this, Sam is stealing my signals!!! Dock him a draft pick!
He's playing behind an offensive (truly putrid, offensive, and abysmal to watch) line that is 32nd in pass, run, and overall. They're utter garbage ****.
I don't think that merits the idea of not judging Maye, as I think tossing critique out the window is a sure fire way to produce a bad player. But it makes critiquing him so difficult; what I want to say, though, is the bad overall atmosphere could definitely detail his development, as he is stagnating with this cast. Stagnation - be it his fault or the talent around him - will create a bad player and we're seeing how that unfolds right now.
