AFC Scout: Pats are a disorganized program

One comment that stuck out was they are one year away from being one year away, Arghhhh.

They're not wrong. I mean, I was hoping that we'd see some kind of improvement in at least one or two parts of their game by now but I can't tell you one thing they do well. They need to find out why that is (personnel? coaching? both?)

This is something that most of already know.
True. Unfortunately many fans are too timid or deluded to draw the obvious conclusions from this fact.

Unfortunately I agree with you.

Eliot Wolf needs to hit a grand slam in free agency and the draft next off-season.

This is incredibly insightful for people that haven't watched any games with their own eyes this season.
In other news, water is wet.

Agreed. We still need these articles being written. The more voices in the chorus, the harder it is for Kraft to ignore.

We need him to see that keeping Mayo around beyond this season is horrible for his image.

While getting rid of Mayo after just one season will generate some backlash, it will pale in comparison how bad it looks to keep him around. And if you land Ben Johnson, there'll be so much positive hype and good press that anything negative about firing Mayo will be swept away.

So yeah, this isn't about water being wet, it's about having Kraft get a bucket dumped on him so he can realize water is indeed wet.

I’m just hoping Mayo gets fired. If they could do it in-season, even better. But my gut tells me he is already guaranteed a second season at a minimum.

I feel the same, I don't see Thunder firing his Vacation buddy after his first season.
I also do NOT know how good of a HC Ben Johnson would be...big difference in the jobs.

Not likely: he seems actually to know what he is talking about. Not a lot of that going on in Pats' management.
Well.. it's not much of a suprise in what he's saying as we witness it every Sunday.

You'll have to wait for season 3 for that. Wolf and AVP would get the axe before mayo would.

Kraft isn't firing the guy who's giving him a handy-j on those long flights to Israel

Was looking into 2025 FA WRs.. Higgins is the best of the bunch that will be available. We have enough of the "nice little players" we need game changers, difference makers. A trade seems like the only logical way.

I am usually on the positive side
This is not a Hail BB post. His last couple of years and GM duties were at times horrendous
For most of the 20 year run we were blessed with good coached and disciplined teams
You did not have to be an expert to see and feel it
This current team is dysfunctional. Badly coached with no sense of urgency or accountability
Maye excites me. There are others that are keepers.
I just hope that Kraft does not waste another year wasting that talent because his ego and wallet speak more loudly
Time to bring in some Varsity Coaches and GM
When did the collaborative approach start, and what was the result?

Did the coaching, played acquisition improve?

I am hoping that Kraft can swallow his ego and identify someone you can bring in and give all of the decision making to.

It worked with BB for a long time.

Is there anyone out there we can bring in, whether a GM or HC, who we can have optimism that they can be given the keys to the kingdom while the Krafts get out of the way?

Having someone like Maye to build around should be a very attractive lure, since the most difficult piece had already been found, and he is so young that the right person could set up the franchise for a long competitive run.

I see a disorganized program, which leads to disorganization on the field. On defense, you've got guys in the wrong gaps, players freelancing, and they don't play cohesively from front to back. Do you want to know why they've fallen off so much on that side of the ball? That's it. You can't do that and expect to be good. And they could still make it work even without some of the big pieces they've lost (Barmore/Bentley/Peppers). Maybe not to the level it's been previously, but they're not good. They should be better.

Yikes.

That’s the kind of perception that gets our coaching staff completely blown up at season end.
They needed a random scout to figure that out?

I’m sure I’ll get flamed for this but what did you really expect? 19-0? You’re an idiot if you thought things would be great out the gate. Of course **** will be dysfunctional and they’ll have no identity. You have a cherry hc, cherry dc with several other newish coaches + a “gm”. They weren’t going to be the chiefs. As much as it would’ve been nice to be dropping 50 burgers every week, you’d have to be high, delusional, or both. Yes it would be nice if they cut down on the screwing up fundamentals bit and looked cohesive but this takes time. You cant rebuild Rome overnight. Wait it was never rebuilt…

I think that would change if Kraft saw a HC he really wanted available and willing to come to NE.
