On our current team. I really and truly believe this roster will look totally different next season.. I keep saying this name. Darius slayton. If we can swing a trade for him would be excellent. I really like his game and if we can land Higgins tooDefense won (but almost lost) the Seattle game, too, after the Seahawks hit that long one ahead of that goal-line stand. I think most of us were bracing for the worst (and waiting on the inevitable) before Butler's miracle. That one had all the makings of those two Giants losses. Really glad it didn't end that way.
I'm having a hard time trying to remember when he even made a play like that on the ball.Remember the game N'Keal Harry dove for a ball he didn't need to and ended up dropping the pass.
I don't remember what team they were playing. I think it was a prime time game.
My favorite N'Keal Harry. Straight up didn't give a f...I'm having a hard time trying to remember when he even made a play like that on the ball.
Dion Branch, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski had no problems getting started as rookies. Malcolm Mitchell looked great and was a big part of 28-3, but he was ended by injuries.Right. You have to talk into account the WR bust rate heck even veterans like Joey Galloway had issues in the system. It was widely reported that that patriots brady offense is so complicated that it's hard for rookies to catch on. So by those measures dobson had a pretty "decent " year for a rookie in that system. His coming out game was against the Steelers that season. Injuries and not being to be on the Field to grow your game and reach potential is a recipe for bust. N'Keal Harry wears that label too.
Can you even imagine how much people would have *****ed if they took Boldin with his 4.7 40. People would literally melt and complain worse than they are about Polk. That is the specialty of this fan base, we complain so good. You missed out on taking Bethel Johnson over Anquan Boldin.
Taking Dropson over Allen was by far the worst. Dropson played for a terrible Marshall team and was the third best WR on his team. He put up like 500 yards his final year in college. Nothing about him looked like he could be a pro Wr outside of 1 catch.
Dobson actually had a pretty solid rookie season here. He developed a good chemistry with brady as rookie. Injuries are what did him in.. he became injured alot and ultimately out the league.
25% of his yards and 50% of his TD catches were against the horrid Steelers secondary. The rest of the games he averaged 36 yards per game as a starting outside WR with Gronk, Edelman and Amendola taking coverage away from him. That's pretty awful. Not really, he was heavily featured in the offense with 72 targets but only 37 receptions. As the season went on Kembrell Thompkins started to eat away at his snaps.
Dobson first game of the season he had 50% of the snaps with 10 targets but only 3 receptions. The last game of the season he had already lost Brady’s confidence and only got 23% of the snaps with 3 targets and 1 reception.
Dobson had the GOAT in his prime throwing him the ball. The dude was trash from the get go.
Galloway was cooked by that season as he was 38 years old. Pointless signing. Same as Torry Holt and Reggie Wayne who ended up retiring because he was too old to put up with what was asked of him.Right. You have to talk into account the WR bust rate heck even veterans like Joey Galloway had issues in the system.
This. Either you have it or not. There isn't one drafted WR or TE that struggled to "learn the playbook" in NE, but ended up succeeding elsewhere.Dion Branch, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski had no problems getting started as rookies. Malcolm Mitchell looked great and was a big part of 28-3, but he was ended by injuries.
Remember the rumors of Moss being cut before the season because he was hardly seen during training camp? Good times.Randy Moss certainly had zero issues coming in year 1 without playing preseason.
Brady recently admitted he'd purposely single out WR's and would tell coaches not to put them in the game because he wouldn't even look their way. He didn't like Meyers or Harry.Jakobi Meyers is the only WR that played better post Brady and who knows how it would have worked out if Brady had been signed to 45 like he wanted.
He really didn't have a choice that season. By 2019, he wasn't putting up with that **** anymore.Saying Brady didn't give rookies a chance is just false as proven by Dobson getting 78 targets as a rookie

However, Moss revealed that Bill ordered him to be at the facility at a certain after the trade or else Bill was going to rescind it.

AB came in and looked amazing his 1 game with Brady.

Kraft picked Maye for sure, instead of trading down. So far it looks like a great pick, but it is hard to mess up with the third pick in the draft. Even a blind squirrel...but the rest of the draft and the FA moves were pathetic, as only a meddling owner can do...or at least that is my opinionPATSFANS PROTOCOL FOR EVALUATING THE DRAFT
We don't like some picks.
We chose our villain and say that he made the picks.
============
1) Do you blame Kraft for picking Maye?
2) Kraft didn't make the picks. I doubt very much if he knew anything about players not picked in the top 10.
That must be photoshopped: technology I tell you. Because I don't remember that either from Big for Nothing Harry.I'm having a hard time trying to remember when he even made a play like that on the ball.
Yeah same here brother.. I don't ever recall N'Keal "trade ' me Harry making a play like that on a ball. That must be photoshopped technology I tell you. Because I don't remember that either Big for Nothing Harry.
Reche Caldwell produced his 1 year in NE. Do you think he was derailed by injuries as well?Givens, branch, Mitchell, eldelman, Douglas, Myers.
That's 6 WRs in the last 20 plus seasons that worked out. I'm not including Hernandez and gronk because they play the TE position wich is separate from WR. I didn't say anything about rookies not having a chance they are were given chances. I don't think anyone was give. More chances than N'Keal.. guy asked for a trade and was still kept here. I mentioned Dobsons career faded by injuries as well. He produced as a rookie where as rookie WRs we're failing.
The flaw here and on the Ladd McConkey argument is your grading rookie draft picks on a finished product "curve". Those stats for 8 games could show some prospectus and insight, but are so non definitive for rookies, that it's highly flawed. SEcondly, you could take a young Jerry Rice and put him into this team and he'd fare poorly. The pats had severe problems pass blocking, especially in the first 5 weeks. So comparing players from one team situtation to another TEAM situation is also flawed. That same player on Detroit might fare better. TEam game. It’s not appearing anyone at WR drafted after him is faring much better so far this season.
WR’s drafted after Polk in rounds 2/3:
Adonai Mitchell: 10 catches, 109 yards.
Malachi Corley: 1 catch 4 yards. 1 touchback.
Jermaine Burton: 1 catch, 47 yards
Roman Wilson: 0 for 0
Jalen McMillan 10 catches, 109 yards.
Luke McCaffrey: 12 catches for 111 yards.
The highest producer through the entire remaining draft from there is Jordan Whittington in the 6th, who’s posted 18 for 201. Still nothing Earth shattering.
Feels like we just drew a short straw with the run of WR’s right before us. The quality of the position group dipped tremendously after those guys were off the board. McConkey, Coleman, Leggette, Worthy, BTJ.., all of these dudes are looking like hits so far.
Your right on waiting to judge. McConkey, whom is a talented dude but a midget size-wise showed he has some knee issues on medicals pre-draft. So see how long he lasts in the NFL. People comparing players in their rookie year and condemning GMs like they know better is a joke. The pats coaches advised Polk will be a good player in the league based on seeing him in summer. The results in games in Sept/Oct on this team that has issues pass blocking are a team result. The drops...?.... they know Polk has good hands. Rookies will be rookies at times. That's why I am willing to give it until next year before I make a judgement on Polk (and Baker for that matter).
But at the moment, passing up on McConkey, who was one of my draft binkies, is looking like an epic fail.
Reche Caldwell funny you picked him. Could you pin point any other by your logic WRs who produced in thier first year. How about Doug Gabriel how'd he do? I'm speaking on rookie seasons specifically in the Brady offense.Reche Caldwell produced his 1 year in NE. Do you think he was derailed by injuries as well?
Aaron Dobson was a healthy scratch 8 out of his first 12 games his second year in NE. He was not derailed by injuries, he was a mediocre college WR that looked good in shorts.
My favorite N'Keal Harry. Straight up didn't give a f...
At 4:16.
Yeah.. I remember moss had the hammy injury in mini camp. He was kept out of the pre season to nurse it.. we saw week 1 he was fully healthy exploding with 181 yards!25% of his yards and 50% of his TD catches were against the horrid Steelers secondary. The rest of the games he averaged 36 yards per game as a starting outside WR with Gronk, Edelman and Amendola taking coverage away from him. That's pretty awful.

On a lighter note. Imagine if brady had a healthy T. Glenn here for a majority of the early dynasty years. I feel like the connection with TB12 and T. Glenn could have been electric.Reche Caldwell produced his 1 year in NE. Do you think he was derailed by injuries as well?
