So you want me to open a new thread pointing out that I think you're a Jets fan? I think it's more appropriate to respond to your posts one by one.

Subpar coaches can win a conference championship or Super Bowl if they are coaching the right team at the right time. See Switzer, Barry and Caldwell, Jim. But there has never been a coach in the history of the NFL or any sport that has taken a bad roster and made them a great team that year.

Coaching matters but players matter more. Even Bill himself said he's been lucky to coach a lot of great players.

They really didn't. They held the Titans to 17 in regulation. Then in OT they did let a lot of clock go, but they ultimately held them to a field goal which was one of the scenarios we needed. We lost the game because we had an unneccessary risky pass thrown before the two minute warning on a 1st down play when we were about 20ish yards from field goal range.

We lost because of our offense having the inability to score. We put up 3 points in the entire first half. We only scored 17 points on the last play of regulation to give us a chance to keep playing. Our defense got us the ball back in OT. The offense lost the ball.

If your defense holds your opponent to 17 in regulation in the modern NFL and that is too much for your offense to win the game, that's an offensive issue. If your offense has plenty of time in OT to tie or win the game and they give up the ball, that's on the offense. They could have had half the field at the 2 minute warning in OT. Very maneagable situation.

Our defense was out there for nearly 40 minutes. Of course they were gassing by the end.

While I wouldn't choose those words, there is merit to highlighting the impact of the Foxboro brain drain as something that brought the end to the BB years. He never figured out how to bring in people from the outside when the internal pipeline was dry. The times he tried failed and it was not possible to develop home grown coaches quickly enough. As a result too many **** lickers were thrown into positions they were not ready for.

What's the point? Of course I'd rather talk about successes rather than failures and I'll never understand why there is a large contingency of posters here who can't stop denigrating BB in every thread over and over and over like some South Park version of Rochambeau. There is very little point or value to it other than they know it pisses off board members.

The Titans offense sucks. Don't be giving the Patriots defense some sort of pass for "only" allowing 17 points. The Titans scored 17 or less points in 6 out of their first 8 games. Their offense was in the bottom of the NFL in a bunch of categories. Only one team (the Giants) has fewer TDs than the Titans. The Patriots defense should have been better against this sucky offense.

Let me guess, you'll go to his HOF induction whether it's 4+ years from now or longer and we'll listen to all the family stories, friendships both work and personal, and all the historic team accomplishments he had through his coaching career beginning with the Colts, Lions, Broncos, Giants, Browns, Jets and Patriots, and you'll run up to the stage, grab the mic, look over at BB and say, "But he still had his mistakes."

I don't see you going out of your way to give Bill twice as much credit for the success since he was both HC and GM so I don't care for your letting Payton off the hook like he had nothing to do with personnel.

Because Mickey Loomis has been their GM since 2002. Not sure where you are going with this.
