We should trade:

Uche - On an one year deal and is a part time player. Some team could use a pass rusher. Are you high? Yeah, ok.
Osborn - We aren't even using him and he is on an one year deal anyway... Are you high? He caught a TD last game. Trade him because he's cheap and older than the rookies who have played terribly or not at all and because Boutte needs reps.
Bourne - Would be nice to get his new deal off our cap (7.9M in 2025). The Niners could use him. Are you high? They have $37M they are rolling over at this point. Trade him because he's a veteran and oft injured.
Thornton - It is over now...the kid just won't succeed in Foxborugh. I mean he had a good camp...and now in week 8 likely will be inactive after starting early in the year...dunno why. Are you high? He's playing Sunday.
Okorafor - He is AWOL basically...some other team like the Steelers might like him back. I don't care what we get in return...a 7th would be fine. He isn't ever suiting up for us again. Are you high? The Steelers released him him because he QUIT on them. We would have to give them a 7th Rd pick.

I'd love to play the rest of the season with Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper, Antonio Gibson, JaMycal Hasty, Rhamondre Stevenson, Ja'Lynn Polk, Demario Douglas, Javon Baker, and Kayshon Boutte. All of these guys are under contract and will be here next year.
I'm not high, you are.

Agree. Problem is non the of those players have any trade value. So probably better of releasing or keeping them to play out thier contracts. I really like Boutte and I think he is developing a nice repore with Drake. We need to get baker on the field.. the team needs to asko see what Drake and Tyquan can have for a deep connection before they totally shut the door on him. At the least Tyquan can be good for 2 to 3 deep attempts a game. KB is still getting back into the swing from missing time I think once he gets back in the groove he will be a nice option for Drake.

All of them have trade value. I read an article this AM suggesting that the Ravens could use Uche and that the Pats could get a 5th rounder for him...that is a pretty good deal for a guy that we likely won't give a big contract to as he is a part timer with liability vs.. the run.

As for KB, I love me some KB....but he will cost us 7.9M next year...I think we would be better off signing one veteran FA WR for an obscene amount (many UFAs in 2025 like Tee Higgins, Dionate Johnson, Chris Godwin, and Keenan Allen) and drafting another one after we take two OT's in rounds 1 and 2 (our two thirds?).

Thornton...if he can't even be active on game day with this WR room....he's done, IMO.

And it isn't about getting picks for these guys...it is also about clearing cap space and getting young pups like Javon Baker and the other practice squad LB'ers some reps......

I'm not high, you are.

Next time....try to break up my post in quotes so I can reply back on a point-by-point basis easier. Here goes:

UCHE - Why can't we trade him? You think he will develop into a 3 down edge and then we'll extend him?

OSBORN - Caught a TD last game AFTER he was told he wouldn't even be active......and complained about it after the game.

BOURNE - The Niners could use him for sure. And getting his 7.9M cap number off our cap would help us in acquiring a big ticket UFA WR or trade for one later.

THORNTON - He's playing on Sunday? Really? Why wasn't he out there last Sunday then?

OKORAFOR - He quit on the Steelers? News to me. Thought he was a LT...then forced to play RT...then released and came over in FA to us to play LT. Whatever....if we can move him for anything...even a six pack of Pabast Blue Ribbon...sign me up!

As far as I'm concerned, everyone but Maye, Barmore, White, Gonzalez and Marcus Jones are on the block.
I agree. We are like the frog in the gradually heating pan of water. We don't see that this team is historically ****ed up. Every day the picture is worse, and it seems we are just numb to the continued regression.

UCHE - Why can't we trade him? You think he will develop into a 3 down edge and then we'll extend him? I agreed with you.

OSBORN - Caught a TD last game AFTER he was told he wouldn't even be active......and complained about it after the game. Complained about the chaos. Shocker. If he goes, he goes. He is a top 4 wr for the Pats right now. Whatever, I'm not his Mom or his Agent.

BOURNE - The Niners could use him for sure. And getting his 7.9M cap number off our cap would help us in acquiring a big ticket UFA WR or trade for one later. I guess. He's doing about as much as Osbourne.

THORNTON - He's playing on Sunday? Really? Why wasn't he out there last Sunday then? Ask the Coaches.

OKORAFOR - He quit on the Steelers? News to me. Thought he was a LT...then forced to play RT...then released and came over in FA to us to play LT. Whatever....if we can move him for anything...even a six pack of Pabast Blue Ribbon...sign me up! I'm thinking Wolf guessed he could be propped about by the coaching staff but it was a terrible signing.
Have a nice weekend. And the Jets suck.

Maybe it's I don't see it. But KJ, Thornton or anything on offense isn't going to net anything. I'm with you on everything you said.. Godwin we will have to see on terrible injury history I think he's had what 2 ACLs and now this recent injury. Higgins would be the best one of all. Heck we have so much cap space going into to next off season that Johnson could likely be attained as well. Also need to make some moves on defense too. The uncertainty with peppers, we may need another starting safety is why Simmons not being targeted was asinine.

You can trade all those guys, but there's things you need to consider.

1. We still need to field a team.
2. We will have to replace them.
3. They won't get much in a trade.

Like it's sort of a waste to get a bunch of 5th and 6th rounders and then limp the rest of the year and then need to find guys again just to get back to the pitiful state we were at going into the year, much less improve.

We need to be Sellers at the deadline. Anyone who isn't absolutely necessary and can be moved for picks needs to go. Our timeline is clearly not now and might not even be next year.

The only things we might shop for are help on the OL primarily and the DL secondary as we are getting dumpstered by NFL run game right now.

Except for Drake Maye who is our future, nobody else should feel secure in their jobs!

After this year I have little or no confidence in Eliot Wolf... he knew our weaknesses and did not do all that much to resolve those needs.
He drafted a QB, 2 Oline and 2 Wrs in the draft. He signed the best RT/RG player in FA.

He could have possibly signed Tyron Smith, but he hasn't exactly helped the Jets in the win column.

It was a terrible FA in terms of talent available at position of needs this past offseason. Calvin Ridley was the best WR available and he wasn't worth what the Titans paid.

I'm not giving Wolf a gold star. I would have personally liked Patrick Paul over Polk in the 2nd rd, but you can't claim Wolf didn't try to address the oline or offense in general.

maybe if there is a proven run stopper.

I see it. I thought 0-17 was on the table to start the year. 1-16 isn't off of it, until it is.

Although I've been highly critical of Kraft/Wolf/Groh Jr./Mayo, there's really not going to be anyone available (let alone a player that won't cost valuable draft capitol and is still young and at a position of need for now and the future) that would be worth acquiring.

I'd add Dugger, the new center Ben Brown, Douglas, the two kickers, and whichever of the rookie offensive lineman they think has the most promise for a solid 2025. Hunter Henry may be a keeper this year since it looked like he and Maye have some chemistry last week.

The issue for me at the trade deadline is what to do with the $37 million in unspent effective cap space. Under the current situation, they'll shed $40 million (of the $46M) in 2024 Dead Cap money in the offseason, so they'll enter 2025 with plenty of cap space and early draft picks again.

Eliot Wolf has a clearer picture of the team's needs now than he did over the summer, so he should be in a position to plug a couple of holes by trading any of a large number of players and draft picks that are very tantalizing for any team. If someone is dangling a defensive lineman on a reasonable contract who can help stop the run, they should make that move.
Henry would be good for one more season, especially if they draft Tyler Warren and/or another solid TE prospect.

I don't agree. I think that Uche, Osborn, and Thornton have value.

They can't trade Okorafor's rights because of the Exempt list he's on.

I respectfully disagree. I don't. A pass rusher who can't pass rush or play the run. Osborn is a nice player but hasn't done anything, Tyquan is TBD. I want to see his connection with Drake. Okorafor all I know is he's away from the team.

Agreed. We should continually sign FAs to compliment the existing team instead of carrying over cap space. Signing few quality FAs this year and having $140 M in cap space next year is lousy management.

I agree this is not the best time to spend those funds, and given the number of players we must acquire to rebuild this joke of a roster, I would certainly not give up draft choices, which is the way to get decent players cheap. This team is AT LEAST a year , likely two, away from being competitive, and expending resources on older "proven" players who will be even deeper in their decline by the time we can really use them would be foolish.

Not concerned that no moves have been made, or that no moves will be made before the 11/5 deadline

we shouldn't be buyers at all... there is no one player that we could bring in that would make a difference... and if there is such a player the cost would be astronomical in both picks and money because if they are available, there will be more than one team interested... Given that we are now in the pole position in the draft our picks have become more valuable... why waste the picks on short term rentals when we are sitting at 1-6... we need to keep the picks... we can either build thru the draft, or make trades after the season... that way we get a better return...

we have a lot of guys who have some limited trade value... uche, bourne, osborn are looked at depth pieces, and teams that are ramping up for a post season run will be looking to fill out their rosters where depth is lacking... I would add just about every player who's deal is up after this season could be trade bait... most of them arent going to be in the future plans of the team... if you can move a few of them, cool, might pick up an extra 5th or 6th round pick... is it worth it? well it would probably solidify our hold on the number 1 overall... tanking in a respectable manner?

eh, the way I look at it, there is limited value in the return though... Wolf hasn't yet shown himself to be a shrewd operator when it comes to draft picks... I don't have a lot of faith in his ability to take those picks and work them into a draft better position... might as run them out there for the rest of the season in a rotation while rookies and fringe players get some game time to build experience...
