Just Met Bill Parcells

Tuna had cowboy shoes re-soled, . My salsa shoes just needed some new skidplates added.

Cowboy shoes.. I had to look that one up. I thought these were only cowboy boots. Or is it only non-westerners that call them that?

Spoken like a cowboy who loves his boots. My favorite motorcycle boots were purchased pre-Reagan, They've made their fair share of cobbler vsits. Old Bikers never die, we just wear out our soles
All this talk reminds me that I need to find a nearby Red Wing store and have one of my boots fixed.

Also, celebrating a member of an opposing team almost killing one of your players is a curious take for an 'ActualPatsFan'.

To be VERY clear, anybody who praises Mo Lewis is not a fan in my book.
I agree. It’s in poor taste to celebrate a guy taking a freak hit and almost died if it were for the Pats trainer and Drew’s brother.
Okay I guess we're doing this...

Mo Lewis has nothing in common with Jack Tatum.

I've seen one zillion life threatening hits watching football at every level. HAD Drew not fully recovered, things would be very different, just as HAD **** Rehbein been fine and still with us today, ditto.

Randy Vataha took one of Tatum's cheap shots early in the '76 playoff, got up and playfully nodded squawking at him the way Squirrel often did after a hard hit.

Drew had zero short or long term ill effects from the hit. You can try to equate it to Bruschi's (non-football related) stroke if you want, but if I and every sports announcer had to qualify our comments to satisfy decorum, we'd never fit in anything about the game.

I do disagree with the game at Buffalo being suspended after Harmon went down, as I've seen lots of guys go down. Several of them did not recover and some did eventually die, like Reggie Lewis.

People, life and sports are emotional. And often emotion takes over where common sense would be better off prevailing.

I never wished Tony Eason any ill will or physical harm beyond simply not being on the field so someone astronomically better could play and give us a chance to win. Same with Drew in his later years with the Patriots.

Mo Lewis is not Bernard Pollard. Drew put himself in a vulnerable position and Lewis just did his job. The same way Walt Coleman did his job. And Tom's teammates on that 2001 team did their job.

The hit Tom Jackson put on Steve Grogan early in the '79 game at Mile High is worthy of Assault With Intent To Murder charges. But that is the game. I never celebrated it, and wouldn't even if I were a Broncos fan.

I'm recognizing and celebrating the aftermath of Lewis' hit, which include Drew being 100% healthy and making the Pro Bowl the following season for the Bills.

Nope. It's still a horrible take. You said to put him in the Patriots Hall of Fame. That's not celebrating anything positive. Dude almost died. You're celebrating the player who hit him.

Your argument is pretty weak, too. The hit was clean. So, we should be okay celebrating a play that nearly cost a player his life?

It led to good things and Drew got lucky he didn't die? So, why not celebrate Pollard? His hit put Cassel in which netted us draft picks by trading him. Tom came back and won us more Super Bowls.

Putting a guy in the Patriots Hall of Fame whose hit could have ended a Patriots' player's life is a horrible take. No matter the consequences.

I might have asked if there was somewhere I could send an autograph request to. Respects his time, treats him as a professional. Doesn't put him on the spot
I don’t know, that would seem weirdly passive aggressive to me. Guy’s standing right in front of you and you ask where you could send a request to get him to scribble his name? Zero chance he’s going to give you some address, he would take it as a request for an autograph.

He met him at the cobbler in between picking up a phosphate at the drugstore and meeting his sweetheart for a malt at the diner!

A malt sounds soooooo good right now.

The truly amazing thing about Salsa’s post? People still getting shoes repaired!! Whoda thunk? Kidding aside, very cool.
Just got two different boots repaired at $10 a boot.

Glue failed, coulda re-glued them myself, but prefer to support the cobbler.

Just looked up prices for replacements.

One pair goes for $149, the other goes for $199.

Think I made out okay.

I met him at Saratoga a few years ago. He was very nice and even gave us a tip on one of his horses running that day. The horse won!
I also met him at Saratoga in the early 2000's. He was in a box and I was with my Dad up in the clubhouse. I saw him coming up the stairs (had to still go to the window back then to bet) and early on people were asking him for autograph's. I didn't want to bother him so I just stayed back enjoying Saratoga.

Towards the end of the day, I convinced myself that I should really try to meet him and get an autograph. When he came up the steps, I went up to him and said "Hi, Coach, love all of your work with the Patriots and Giants, may I have your autograph?" He snatched my program and signed it without ever looking up and then kept walking. I think he just lost the previous race. LOL

Now I am older and I play bass for a popular regional band, so I get where sometimes you just don't want to deal with people. Back then it made me not want to ever meet my idols.

My encounter was on the way in for the day so he had no time to have lost any races yet lol.
