Agreed. Brady made winning plays and didn't over do it. He played within the scope of the offense and was super clutch like the throw to Wiggy in a snow storm on the biggest stage. He had no where of the caliber of players Purdy has. That's what made brady so special his ability to lead and elevate those lesser talents around him. I believe SF offense is every bit as good as their defense.

Call me crazy but I've often thought this point is hammered a bit too much. That being said, he definitely DID lift players to their best, even the best players. Examples of him making something out of nothing are years like 2013, and really elevating his early years.

Corey Dillon was an incredible RB that we rode to a championship.

We had some of the BEST OL's. That's what truly made the 2007 offense so good.

Wes Welker is literally the best slot WR in history.

Randy Moss is the most talented WR in history (not the greatest, for you Rice stans)

Gronk is the best complete TE in history.

Hernandez was like. Extremely good.

Edelman is one of the most clutch and versatile receivers. The Athletic used to do articles with CB's at the time asking them who was the hardest receivers to cover; Edelman often made that list.

Little fun fact: there was a point... Where all those players were on the same team at once except Dillon (2010)

Edit: Sorry @Real fan 02 clearly I'm dumb and didn't realize y'all are talking early years.

My response above was in reference to early Brady because we were comparing early Brady to early Purdy situations. This team got to the point that we relied on TFB because he was a stud and able to elevate the rest of the team and the defense was not great. TFBs 2nd and 3rd HOF careers he was definitely the altenator to the cars engine, because without him nothing ran.

I am not a car guy so if I effed up the car analogy I apologize. Basically I am trying to say HE IS GUUD

Ah. Got it. Clearly my mistake as I never look through all the pages lol.

No worries Vindi. Your spot on on everything you've said. We bared witness to greatness for so long.. even bradys last season he had 24-8.. and still dragged that team to the wildcard round.

Lowe and Jordan out! If Sow and Wallace are out, we won't score a point. The one area we needed perfect health is the one area of the team ravaged by injuries, still surprised after a mini bye week that so many are still out or questionable. Not looking good as best case we have 2 rookie starters again.

I'd take Edelman over Welker ANY day of the week. Remember that 3rd and 14 catch in 49? Yeah, Welker doesn't make that. Welker was great, Edelman was better.

Jules is no worse than the 3rd best Pats' wr in history.
1. Stanley Morgan
2. Randy Moss
3. Edelman
I'm tempted to put him #2 since Moss wasn't here all that long.
JE11 is also my favorite Patriot all-time
He just beats out TB12

I don't hold that catch against him as much. Wes Welker was insane, man. I love Edelman way more. But, in my eyes, Welker revolutionized the position and produced an insane amount. If its been awhile, I encourage anyone to watch his highlights. Truly a master at his craft.

Yeah but who's Wally Pip

I am pretty excited to see Trey Jacobs, a buddy of mine is a Broncos fan and felt that Jacobs out played Peart and should have been kept instead of Peart. While I am excited I keep reminding myself that Bosa has made pro bowl LTs look bad at times. Dude played defense until 2019 and then was switched to OT.

My buddy told me that in 2023 as a rook that Trey was the entire bag of ass, but in 2024 played much better. He told me that PFF had him graded about 30 points higher in 2024 than 2023.

I’m rooting for him! We need JB to stay healthy

"With Lowe ruled out and Wallace questionable, waiver-wire addition Trey Jacobs has been repping as the top left tackle in practice this week."

Tell me more Mack.

How can Austin get hurt ? Must have been from giving up plays whenever he's been out there. Lowe... geesh... always something going on with him..

I like Purdy a lot, but has the conversation turned to comparing him with Brady? I wouldn't go there at all. I do think that if Drake Maye develops into Purdy's equal (though with a somewhat different sort of skill set) that would be a fine outcome, but neither is legitimately comparable to Brady in my mind, and it is unlikely, though all things are possible, that either ever will be. Mahomes might, but that's a different matter.

I do see parallels between Purdy's and Brady's games - the cerebral approach, the soundness and speed of decision-making, the weird sangfroid (There's a word for the nerds among us), maybe in the pattern of their development, but that doesn't really make them comparable, I'd say.

Very well could. Pretty or ugly ill always look forward to watching them though!
Beating the Bengals was great. It would be a lot tougher around here if they were 0-3.

I want to believe that the Pats can take down the 49ers but the lack of an offense makes that difficult. Hopefully they'll have a big day with the running game and get to 2-2, someplace that not many thought they'd see the Pats.

Personally doesn't bother me.. players still have to execute no matter a coach says.
Bingo. It isn't about the coach. It's about the players. And the person who selects the players is the key.

I ran into Welker and his family in the north end a month or two ago. I thanked him for his time here.
