Maye has far superior athletic ability than Purdy. Everything is perfect around Purdy, the coaching, the weapons. He was dropped into the drivers seat. What would be impressive to me is if Purdy had lesser talented players like we do and elevated them. Some people get Purdy confused with another 199th pick that's about to be in the HOF.
I think Purdy would he's a really fine player who has "It". Not going to lie but I'm little jealous of him we had First Rounder Mac Jones who don't belong in the same universe playing wise.

So, will they stick with Wallace at LT this week? I'd like to see more of Jacobs, to see if he has what the Broncos liked in him.
Is Sow ready to play LG? Being rusty and not healthy, will he be better than Jordan - who's been the least of our problems?
Zach Thomas seems like a player. He's played Tackle, why not try him more at RT to let Onwenu move in to RG.
I think Andrews would look much better if he had familiarity at RG too.
Sadly, Robinson is the only OL not injured, so I bet they keep riding that.

And the Defense will keep riding him to the QB.

I think people are still undervaluing Purdy because of his draft position and because he doesn't have a rocket arm (You know, like J'Marcus Russel or Ryan Mallet, say.). If Drake Maye turns out to be as good a player as Purdy (of a different variety, of course, given their innate athletic skills), I'll be more than happy.
No idea how Purdy was so undervalued in college. One thing I noticed about him last year was his extraordinary quickness and awareness to avoid a sack. He often escapes to the rear and then around the rush, and even edge rushers and blitzing db's can't catch him in that 20 yards when he does that. Wonder what his 3-cone time was.

Brother. Would you had been happy we had Purdy in 2022 when the Matt and Joe show was here? Purdy would have been out the league by now in the CFL if he came to us then.

Purdy is a nice player.. but we'll never know really becuase he has all pro talent all around him.

I hope you are right if the game is close and Brissett is struggling do you think Mayo pulls him for Maye?? Would Mayo let one slip away with Brissett if he can steal it with Maye??
I guess it would have to depend on the game.. if Brissett is struggling all game I think out respect for Brissett being a veteran mayo wou let him finish the game and then prepare his staff to start Maye. As tempting as it would be mayo probably would let Brissett stay in and loose the game to justify why going to maye would be thr best chance to win. Get ready for another 88 yards passing Sunday!

Everything - this year certainly - is far from "perfect around Purdy." His line is not great, so he's having to run all over the place, and a number of skill players are having medical issues. I don't confuse him with anybody, certainly not ol' #199, but in a league in which maybe a third of the teams have a QB who really enhances his team's chances, we would be fortunate to have a QB that good, to have Maye so develop. Maye does have superior athletic skills, but the correlation between various sorts of athleticism and success as a QB is not at all very reliable in my judgment. Purdy may not get lovers of the measurable all hot and tingly, but he can play the position, which in the end is what matters, particularly given that "athletic QB's - qb's who rely on athleticism - generally have the athleticism pounded out of them by year three or so. The duration of any qb, initially "athletic" or not, ultimately depends on their ability to learn how to run an NFL team, an ability that matters more and lasts far longer than their ability to run the ball. Running backs have short, often flash-in-the-pan careers, so do athletic qb's who don't bother to learn the stuff players like Purdy have mastered: the Cam Newtio, RG III's of the world.

I expect little baby-face Purdy to kick our ass on Sunday.
See for me.. I don't see that. Purdy has been to the superbowl, he's got the best offensive coach in the game.. he's got all pro talent on offense and defense. Ayuik, Deebo, Jennings, CMC.. Kittle Warner, bosa, tungaflunga name one all pro we have? As I said everything is perfect around him. All he has to do is keep the caddy from crashing. @PatsFan2.

The potential return of Sow and Lowe not playing is the best possible outcome this week. Hopefully Damontry Jacobs balls out and the Patriots receive the miracle they were looking for. Now all they'll have to do is move Onwenu back inside to RG and move Wallace to RT and possibly they could get some good line play going forward.

Small school, Iowa State, and he played the full college career so he was older entering the NFL. People looked at that like it was a negative, it wasn't. His experience and age was a plus, especially for a team that needed him to start quickly.

He's got a really fast brain, I think, and it seems to stay really calm inside his head, no matter what's happening. He can run around in circles but maintain awareness of what's going on down field. I think he's pretty accurate as well. I guess I'm being a little fanboy/gushy, but I just like that sort of qb. Brady had that sort of brain, but then he managed something no one else has accomplished: he improved his athleticism/arm-strength ("athleticism" in that sense) over the years, even into his 40's, it seemed. That we will NEVER see again. As Mahomes' athleticism (and to an extent the quality of players with which the team can surround him given his substantial cap hit) wanes, he's building up other aspects of his game, which is sorta similar, I suppose. Poor ol' Cam would be the counter-example. He used up the talent he arrived with and didn't develop anything to make up the deficit it in his areas of weakness. With all these qb's who are doing well after faltering early ("busts"!), it makes one wonder of we don't think of a QB's early development in far too simplistic and short-term a manner. Maybe that's why VanPelt and all are being so infuriatingly (?) patient with Drake,

According to the guy below jacobs is getting the reps at LT this week so that could be the call for Sunday . Not sure how good of a source it is but At the least everyone will be in their natural positions.

He looked really good this preseason. He also came from a Denver program where Sean Payton knows what he is doing and they wanted to sneak him on their practice squad. He is a good athlete and has ridiculously long arms, not saying he'll be great or even good... but at least he has the tools.

Wolf might have saved his butt on the waiver wire, Mayo might have made himself look smart with Lowe getting hurt and this kid being elevated by default. I don't know why he wasn't starting the moment they acquired him, but let's cross our fingers.

I don’t like all the detail Mayo gives in press conferences about shifting and focusing on certain players. A little more secrecy when it comes to that please?

Purdy is much better than people give him credit. I was much higher on Purdy coming out of Iowa State than most and feel like it was a travesty that he lasted until the 7th. Aside from the cast around him he is not much different than early Brady.
