Do Pats fans envy the Chiefs?

You mean.... the Chefs?

Seriously, a little. I miss that feeling of being able to go toe-to-toe with anyone and have a really good chance of beating them. Although, for some reason, it does feel nice to not be treated like a doofus for supporting a dynasty, like a bandwagoner. Not knowing I've been behind the Patriots since the late 80s (earlier, but not incredibly aware and conscious of being a fan at that age).

I've been a Pats fan from the beginning and in the early stages I rooted for all the AFC vs the old guard NFL teams. I still do. I was thrilled when the Jets and Chiefs won back to back SBs in 69-70. That shut the NFLers up for good and the AFC has become the dominant conference.

One of our sons played all the sports and his best friend was a sketch artist who had no use for sports. One day our son's friend came into the house wearing a tee shirt that said, "the sports team from my area is superior to the sports team from your area." I got the message and cracked up when I saw it.

FOR ****s Sake enough already. I’m done watching the Chie, err, the Taylor swift show games, produced by the nfl

The Chiefs are the 2-time defending champions with the best QB in the League and a realistic chance of getting 3 in a row this year. Obviously the focus of the NFL, and fans of various NFL teams, will be disproportionally on them - just as it was disproportionally on us for about 2 decades.

Allen chokes had a chance to put them away twice and he failed in the post
If the 13 second game is one of those (not sure which games you’re referencing) that’s the one the defense blew. IMO you give Hill, Kelce & Reid to Allen from 2018 until now there’s 2 rings there minimum. I know it’s the hypothetical game but switch QBs and wonder how many chips Mahomes has in Buffalo.

Not that I care. I HATE THEM! But the question remains, are Patriots fans weirdly obsessed with Chiefs Kingdom, as they call it?
Somehow I feel like you’re lying. However, being number 1 comes with hatred. Don’t feel special, we were where you were at for 20 years. An unprecedented amount of time.

Injuries will have a role

Lmao.
Josh Allen is the most overrated qb in the nfl.
He's a freakin' turnover machine. He's nowhere close to Mahomes and never will be.
When healthy, Burrow is much better than Allen.
I sure hope Maye turns out better than Allen.

I never watch a minute of pregame unless it's a Pats game.

And last night I decided to make a slight change and put the volume up on the boob tube so I could hear what everyone was saying during the game. I won't do that again.

I will envy the Chiefs when they win their 7th Super Bowl
I was very happy to see KC win SB4 and if they get to 7 they'll deserve respect. I won't be pulling for them as much now as I did back then.

Yes, but that might be the only thing that stops them. I don't see many teams in their way.

They easily have the weakest division opponents in the AFC and just beat the 2nd best team they'll face (SF in week 16 is probably #1) and their next toughest games are Cincy and Houston, both also at home.

After that it's Buffalo and Cleveland on the road and a bunch of pancakes, including the NFCS, the worst division in football.

I'll be shocked if KC doesn't have the #1 seed.

Allen makes boneheaded decisions. There was a time when I thought he was over that but he's regressed.

We are obsessed with the Jets. Get lost.

They are a dynasty. But the road is much less tougher than NE faced. Jackson, Burrow, and Allen are not even remotely close to the QB Peyton Manning was. Taylor & McDermott aren't close to Tomlin & 2008-2014 Harbaugh.

They never faced an 01 Rams or 2014 Seahawks caliber team in a SB. Heck, I think the 2016 Falcons might be better than any opponent KC faced.

Now....they still had to draft well and develop. Obviously they are well coached and have an elite QB. Can't take that away. History will remember them as a dynasty. But even as a fan, I can acknowledge the road isn't what NE faced.

What I'm most curious to see of all is how they manage the transition to a post-Reid era. I don't necessarily think it's happening in the next 3 years or so, but short of catastrophically bad injury luck there's zero way Andy is going to be there for the entirety of Mahomes's remaining career.

Mind you, I'm confident they'll figure it out if (as you said) they can draft and develop well enough, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's at least one difficult "transition" season that Chiefs historians will reflect on with frustration the way Pats fans do 2009.

This is an annoying topic, therefore I will respond to it.

first the poll, way to 'slant' the poll to give choices. ANY team that is in rebuilding mode is going to WISH they were the team currently on top. So envy the Chiefs? Of course most teams in the Pats position are going to want to be in the Chiefs position. But the way ths poll was structured, the results are going to support your narrative that people here are obsessed with the Chiefs.

And the 2nd part of it is...when teams are 'on top' like the chiefs, sometimes success goes to their head and they start acting like Jerks. It happened here at times with BB and Brady. Mahomes says or gets away with some things other teams will take notice of...or at the very least it can get annoying how much national attention they get. So what is my point? Well, this is a message board, the reason this thing EXISTS is so we can talk about the games...and things about the league we like, and don't like.

So no, its not an obsession, its a discussion about things that we are exposed to and have an opinion on. There is more 'news' and 'talk' available about the Chiefs. And Mahomes. And Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson. So, other than the Pats, those topics will be talked about more than, say, the Jaguars. Its not that there is an obsession about them. Its a reaction to the topics that are out there.
