Wolf has made a few under the radar additions the past couple days. All sound intriguing:

LT: Demontrey Jacobs 6’6 315, was on Denver's practice squad all last season, long arms

LT-G: Zachary Thomas 6’5 308, played a few games for the Rams last season, ran a 4.96 40

C: Bryan Hudson 6’5, 300, rookie from Louisville, cut by Detroit

DT: Eric Johnson 6’4 299, played 28 games for Indy the past 2 years, ran a 4.89 40

Edge: Ochaun Mathis 6'5" 250, played 8 games for the Rams last year

(edit) LB: Curtis Jacobs 6'1 240, from Penn St, coverage LB had good preseason with Chiefs

I like the line additions well enough... nothing really excites me though... but i realize that as much as we need starters, we also need depth... and after releasing a few linemen during cut downs, we needed to add bodies.

just wish the late round guys we did draft over the past few years panned out... lot of misses there.

If the center can actually snap the ball without incident, that’s an improvement. Leverett couldn’t get that done and couldn’t get much else done on a consistent enough basis from what I saw.

I hope OT Jacobs is a step up from Wheatley, Anderson, McDermott, and Steuber. A low bar there for sure. Similarly OL Thomas simply needs to be a step up from Mafi and ThanksDad.

Anything they get from the DL and LB will be a bonus but they seem like scout team members/game day inactives.

Given the youth movement, I feel they brought in people with a lot of upside although some are super raw. Someone on youtube put together some videos on some of the players that we brought in, the link is below. If this is one of you, great work.

There at the positions most felt we needed the depth so that's a good thing. Individually they each have something to be intrigued by so let's see what happens in the next few weeks.

say it with me... Zihuatanejo - Zey-Wha-Ten-Ayy-Oh - Zihuatanejo

All we can do is hope for something even slightly better than what we have now and that will be massive. The backup C we have, Liam whatever his name is, needs to practice snapping the ball. Should be made to snap the ball to someone repeatedly for hours until he gets it. Make him do 500 reps for every ****ed up snap. I don’t care if it’s the QB and his fault. He’s a new C so needs reps. This is what I did and it works wonders…imagine that!!! Practicing something makes you better at it!!!

Loading it up with future prospects, hopefully they are worthy of roster spots and couldn’t have just been ps guys, honestly have no clue there. But i believe we are mandated to keep them on the 53 at least 4 weeks…

Truly minimal effort on the OL this year but i feel like they are going to hit that area hard next year after some self evaluation this year. I think your realistic goal for this year would be to have starrting LG-C-RG-RT stabilized by seasons end one way or another.

Demontrey Jacobs looked great at tackle, at least in the clips they showed (don't know the level of competition). I suspect he has maybe the longest arms of any current NFL player (a shade longer than Trent Brown). Could easily end up being the answer to our tackle deficit - he's apparently still pretty raw.

Teams will bring players in rapid fire now to see if they can improve their teams but also create a list of break glass in case of emergency. Many of these players won't be here for long, but some should stick.

I'm interested and potentially hopeful about Jacobs emerging at LT (if Lowe falters again)
Eric Johnson is also a possible help to fill the gap left by Barmore.
At least good depth behind Godchaux since losing Watts, and competition for Ekuale (similar styles).

As a Cornhusker fan, I am super pumped about Ochaun Mathis 6'5 250 or so. I am almost as excited for the PS/waiver claims as I am the draft class. Before I get the comments about it being sad about being excited for WW&PS, let me state that this roster was devoid of talent so the possibility that WW/PS players could make an impact is not as ridiculous as it sounds.

Have any of the new players obtained on waivers practiced yet?

It's absolutely not ridiculous, happens every year. We're not used to being 3rd in the waiver order, there's some good talent available. I feel the same as you, that a few of these guys sound more ready than our draftees, or fit our current needs better.

I don't know. We were talking about the potential of Wheatley and Lowe this time last year. Where'd that get us.
