Mayo Made The Right Call, The Only Call - Brissett over Maye

Peyton Manning said it was invaluable learning experience playing the first year.
Brady had never developed a QB, Brady only knows what he went thru, the analysis done using actual QB’s and historically detailed analyses disagrees with Brady and agrees with Manning.
lol, "detailed analysis" ... Man, you talk so much garbage couched in the guise of "studies" and "analysis".

Brady sat
Montana sat
Mahomes sat
McNabb sat
Rodgers sat
Brees sat
Warner sat
Favre sat
Bradshaw sat
Warner sat
Rivers sat
hell even Roger Staubach sat

And based on how pmannings rookie season went, he should have sat for a spell.

Where do you get these "detailed" studies from? Exponent? Would be my guess.

Not every opinion needs to be derived from a position of authority. Sometimes you can look at a situation and say "yeah that makes sense" based on your own knowledge, thoughts and ideas.

The Patriots want to bring Maye along at a slow(er) pace. And for them, that's the right decision.

Maye will get his opportunity. It just isn't going to happen in game 1, unless Jacoby gets jacked. Which unfortunately is a real possibility.

You have a great point. Notably Bledsoe, favre, Rodgers, they all were studs.

I've learned that Drake is sitting for a few reasons. The instability of the line.
The coaches want maye to get into a routine of the NFL season, and see in game adjustments, defensive attacking the offense.

They won't have to do much to stop Brissett unfortunately.

Drake Maye will get his day, and hopefully many more after that. We are all wanting to see him under center.

Some of us are just willing to wait.

I feel like those are the reasons. They know Drake is the guy. I'm HOPEFULL Brissett can be "marginal" at best.

At least maye daye will get to see what not to do on the field.

As I've said if the offense looks circa 2023 by end of September expect mayo to make a change.

He just turned 22…he has his whole life to have near-death experiences. Their is no rush.
Unfortunately Brissett will crash the car soon enough .

I believe Krafts more beholden to mayo. Remember Mayo's made $$$$ as a player.. his long-term career isn't financially dependent on football. He's done plenty well for himself in business.

What I'm trying to say it would be easier for him to step away than it would for say wolf.
But in this totally hypothetical scenario Wolf has convinced or is convincing Kraft to jettison Mayo. An 0-17 or a 1-16 season might be very persuasive. Anyway, this is just idle speculation. I'm curious if Kraft regrets it.

I see your point. Mayo and Wolf are linked together as they've had a close rela for years as mayo mentioned.. once mayo starts winning he will build up his pedigree as a HC in the NFL. That will in turn empower him. Look at shanny in SF he hasn't won anything but his steadiness and building a roster has him respected around the league.

The question with a list like this is how good was the team and the incumbent? eg at least Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, & Love aren't fair comparisons cause each had a star QB in front of him, so obviously the rookie sits. The valid comparisons are top-5 QB's onto bad teams with bad starting QB's - how many of those guys sat? The pressure on a franchise to play a potential savior is immense and starts week 1, as we can feel in our case this year.

I agree completely with having him watch week 1 given that it's away, vs a very good opponent, and we have so many new parts to break in with the OL and coaching staff. It would make sense to wait till week 5, especially if the OL doesn't gel. But if the OL looks ok and Jacoby lays an egg in Cinci, I wouldn't object to seeing Drake in week 2.

The opposing view

The amount of rationalization going on here is incredible. I get that no-one actually wants to root for this team to win this year because it would likely be very painful. So most here will give the Pats organization a mulligan for the whole season and want to put unproven rookie QB on ice to protect him from pain and suffering. That's not exactly Winner Think.

Tanking for a tackle? While mothballing an unproven QB? That's pretty fanatically loyal to an unproven organization.

For me, trading our best player (Judon) and sitting our (likely) best QB is unforgiveable. Advocating -- even celebrating -- not effing trying is utterly contemptible. At least you all can't be disappointed when you have zero expectations.

The only qb on the list you name that had a "star" in front of him is Rodgers. The other guys? fine, but ultimately replaceable. You think Alex Smith really held off Patrick Mahomes?

All the others? Out in year two (three in the case of staubach & rivers).

Or some of us have realized that they do have a plan that they are working thru at their own pace. They are not beholden to the whims of the fan base who think that it should be damn the torpedoes full steam ahead without out any thought to the future of the franchise.

Jimmy G. has a great arm. Extremely accurate, quick release, and reads defenses well. But there is the durability concerns. The Patriots need a QB that can move around and avoid pressure. JB does it a bit, and Maye does it better. No worries; Maye will be starting sooner than we expect.
The ability to avoid direct hits and fall in a way that protects themselves is a large component in determining if a QB is injury prone. Some of this comes down to style of play Brady spent a lot of time practicing getting hit and getting rid of the ball if the play was not there where Andrew Luck would hold onto the ball in the hope of making a big play. Maye seemed to be reasonably careful in his limited playing time in the preseason.

Week 7 at Gillette under the current plan with Brissett still at the helm...

New England has pink hats, just like every other fan base, surprise surprise.
