Maybe BB wasn't that terrible.
Here is how Kiper's Patriots drafts would have looked if he were GM (pats actual pick in parentheses):

I do not think just based on this pats would be in any better position

2015- Landon Collins, S, Alabama (Dominique Easley)
2016 Chris Jones, DT, Mississippi State )Malcolm Brown)
2017 Kolton Miller, OT- (Derek Rivers third round)
2018 Clean Ferrell, DE (Isaiah Wynn, Sony Michelle)
2019 Irv Smith, TE (Nkeal Harry)
2020 Cesar Ruiz, G (Kyle Duggar))
2021 Trey Lance QB (trade up) (Mac Jones)
2022 Daxton Hill, DB (Cole Strange)
2023 Christian Gonzalez, CB (Christian Gonzalez)
2024 Drake Maye, QB (Drake Maye)

Would have loved to have Chris Jones as DT

This is interesting. Curious to see who the best is, if anyone. Thanks for sharing.

That list in the op is all kinds of wtf wrong... seriously, the years 2014-2018 are all a year off...

these are the Pats picks from Kipers final mock drafts, 2014-2024... i don't have espn+, so they are sourced from google searches, mostly from bleacher report

2014 S Calvin Pryor (DE Dominique Easley)
2015 OT Cedric Ogbuehi (DT Malcom Brown)
2016 DE Chris Jones (CB Cyrus Jones)
2017 Traded both 1 & 2 for Cookie & Kony Ealy prior to the draft... and Kolton Miller was drafted in 2018
2018 OT Kolton Miller (OT Isiah Wynn)
2019 DE Clellin Ferrell (WR N'Keal Harry)
2020 G/C Cesar Ruiz (S Kyle Dugger)
2021 [Trade Up] QB Trey Lance (QB Mac Jones)
2022 DB Daxton Hill (G Cole Strange)
2023 LB Nolan Smith (CB Christian Gonzales)
2024 QB Maye (QB Maye)

Maybe Bill wasn't that terrible compared to Mel Kiper reminds me of my son's recent move to LA and his comment that the cost of living there isn't much worse than Boston.

That reminds me of the bit from the 3 Stooges when they were asked whether they would prefer to have their heads chopped-off or be burned at the stake…

That list declines pretty steeply past Chris Jones and Kolton Miller

It's really easy to criticize draft choices in retrospect. You pick some guy at 10, and the critics will point to the 5 guys who turned out way better than your choice and that were also picked way later. Clearly your choice must have been dumb.

Right on the money. The truth is that pretty much every fan base in every sport complains about their team’s drafting, and that’s the process they use to ***** about it. And football is the worst in this regard, because it’s a pass or fail system, there is no minor league to bounce back and forth between, so their either make it or they don’t.

I'm curious what this looks like with forum members like BGC. And with the forum concensus at the time. Like the forum concensus being Maye in '24, Gonzalez in '23, McDuffie in '22, Mac in '21, can't recall in '20, AJ Brown/Deebo in '19, so on.

I was fine with the '22 trade-down, just not with the players chosen as a result.

Regarding 2020, another trade-down, there wasn't as much consensus partly due to the first pick coming so late (#37)... I wanted somebody like TE Cole Kmet on offense or CB Trevon Diggs on defense... QB Jalen Hurts was in retrospect the BPA, but I wanted to see what Stiddy could do after a year of watching Brady...
